BYD has given its first electric SUV in India, the Atto 3, a mid-life update for 2025. While the core formula remains unchanged, this update brings a new interior theme, a must-have feature addition, and a small but important battery upgrade.
But are these tweaks enough to keep the Atto 3 ahead of its rivals? Let’s take a closer look.
Design: no fixing what isn’t broken
The 2025 BYD Atto 3 sticks to its funky, futuristic styling. The sharp LED headlights, coupe-like roofline, and sporty stance remain untouched. If you liked the way it looked before, you’ll still like it now. If you didn’t, well… nothing here will change your mind.
Interior: now in full black
The biggest visual update is inside the cabin. The dual-tone interior has been swapped out for an all-black theme, giving the Atto 3 a sleeker, more premium feel. It aligns better with what we expect from a high-end EV, and the darker tones should also be easier to maintain.

Features: ventilated seats arrive
The Atto 3 was already feature-packed, but BYD has finally added ventilated seats for both the driver and front passenger. This is a huge win for Indian buyers, especially in cities where summers turn cars into ovens.

Apart from this, all key features remain unchanged:
- Rotating touchscreen infotainment system
- Premium audio system
- Smart connectivity features
No major upgrades, but ventilated seats alone make this update worthwhile.
Safety: as solid as before
Nothing has changed on the safety front, which is actually a good thing. The Atto 3 continues to offer:
- 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating
- 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC
- ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and emergency braking
It was one of the safest electric SUVs before, and that hasn’t changed.
Battery & powertrain: a small but important upgrade
Mechanically, the Atto 3 remains unchanged, offering the same Blade Battery setup in two configurations:
- 49.92 kWh → 468 km (ARAI) range
- 60.48 kWh → 521 km (ARAI) range
The biggest change? A new Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) low-voltage battery. It replaces the traditional lead-acid unit, bringing:
- 15-year lifespan
- Better reliability
- Improved self-discharge management
While this doesn’t directly affect performance, it does enhance longevity and efficiency.

Price & variants
BYD hasn’t announced official 2025 prices yet. However, as part of a special anniversary offer, the first 3,000 buyers will get the new Atto 3 at 2024 prices:

Expect prices to go up once this offer ends.
Final thoughts
The 2025 BYD Atto 3 doesn’t reinvent the wheel but makes just enough changes to stay competitive. The addition of ventilated seats and an all-black interior makes it more appealing, while the LFP battery upgrade ensures better long-term reliability.
