Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the updated 2026 S-Class plug-in hybrid, bringing electrification to its flagship luxury sedan for the first time. The new S 450 e Launch Edition is priced at Rs 2.20 crore (ex-showroom), while the more exclusive MANUFAKTUR Edition carries a price tag of Rs 2.38 crore (ex-showroom). Bookings have commenced, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Refreshed Design
The updated S-Class receives subtle but noticeable styling changes. At the front, it features new Digital Light headlamps with advanced micro-LED technology that offer a wider and longer illumination range than before.

Mercedes has also redesigned the grille, which is now larger and illuminated, while the rear gets updated tail lamps featuring the brand's signature three-pointed star design.
Interiors
Inside, the S-Class now comes equipped with the latest-generation MBUX infotainment system and a standard Superscreen setup. The system includes an AI-powered 'Hey Mercedes' voice assistant capable of more natural conversations and responses.
Mercedes-Benz has introduced its latest MBUX Superscreen setup, which includes a 14.4-inch OLED central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display and a dedicated 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger. The system runs the latest MB.OS software features an AI-powered "Hey Mercedes" virtual assistant with more natural voice interactions.
Being offered exclusively in long-wheelbase form, the S-Class continues to focus heavily on rear-seat comfort. Buyers can opt for executive rear seats that recline up to 43.5 degrees, while all seats offer ventilation, heating and massage functions. Rear passengers also get dual 13.1-inch entertainment screens that support video streaming, gaming and video conferencing.

Other highlights include a Burmester 4D surround sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four-zone climate control, connected car technology, augmented reality navigation and over-the-air software updates. Mercedes-Benz has also improved cabin insulation and expanded the ambient lighting system, further enhancing the premium experience inside the flagship sedan.
On the safety front, the sedan comes equipped with 15 airbags and Level 2 ADAS supported by 27 sensors. Mercedes-Benz has also fitted an advanced air filtration system that blocks dust and captures up to 99.9 % of microscopic viruses.
Specifications
Power comes from a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 120 kW electric motor and a 22 kWh battery pack. The plug-in hybrid system develops 429 bhp and 680 Nm, with power sent to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Mercedes-Benz claims an electric-only range of up to 115 km and a WLTP fuel efficiency of 32.3 kmpl. The S 450 e also becomes the first plug-in hybrid in India to support 60 kW DC fast charging.
Despite its focus on efficiency, performance remains impressive. The luxury sedan can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 5.7 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.
