Ampere Nexus ST Review — Exceeds Expectations
Most reviews you’ll find online for the Ampere Nexus ST are no longer relevant. Unless someone has ridden it very recently, they simply won’t be able to tell you what this scooter is truly capable of today. That’s because a major OTA update rolled out in late 2025, and it has completely transformed the Nexus ST from a decent electric scooter into something genuinely impressive. Features that felt missing or half-baked at launch are now fully implemented, and the scooter finally feels complete.

Design and Build Quality
Going in, I honestly expected the design and quality to feel average at best. That assumption was wrong. The Nexus ST looks sleek, modern, and far from cheap, both in photos and in real life. The fit and finish feel premium, and nothing about the scooter screams cost-cutting. Compared to many EVs in this segment, it actually has a distinct personality, especially when you put it next to something like the iQube, which looks fairly bland in comparison.

Performance and Ride Experience
In terms of performance, the Nexus ST surprised me the most. The scooter feels comfortable and well-balanced, and the seat is firm yet supportive, which works well for longer rides. In Sports mode, we managed to take it up to 92.5 kmph, very close to its rated top speed of 93 kmph. Instant braking was tested at speed, and braking performance was confidence-inspiring, stopping well within expectations.
What stood out to me was how easy it felt to ride. Compared to petrol scooters, this one feels lighter on its feet, more predictable, and far less intimidating for new riders. The balance is phenomenal, making city riding effortless.

Technology and TFT Display
The scooter comes equipped with a 7-inch TFT touchscreen display, and while the UI is fairly basic, I actually appreciate that. It shows exactly what you need without cluttering the screen or distracting the rider. The display is responsive, and thanks to the OTA update, it now supports turn-by-turn navigation. While there isn’t full-fledged onboard map navigation, connecting your phone allows directions to be displayed directly on the screen, which works well in practice.
There are physical buttons for navigating through menus, and if you’re coming from a petrol scooter, nothing here feels unfamiliar or complicated. A particularly useful addition is the single-press reverse or parking assist, which makes maneuvering in tight spaces incredibly easy.

Range, Battery, and Regenerative Braking
On a full charge, the on-screen range showed 103 km, which is only 33 km short of the claimed 136 km. For real-world usage, that’s a respectable figure. Sports mode does reduce the range by about 10 km, but even then, it didn’t feel like a dealbreaker. The scooter features regenerative braking, although there are no selectable regen modes. Personally, I feel Ampere could improve this by allowing riders to adjust regen strength, especially since city traffic could help recover a few extra kilometers.

Practicality and Storage
The Nexus ST is extremely practical. The seat is incredibly long, and while we absolutely do not endorse triple riding, it’s worth mentioning that three people can sit surprisingly comfortably. More realistically, it gives you ample space to carry bags or luggage between two riders.
Storage is another strong point. The under-seat boot is labeled ‘XXL’, and it easily fits a half-face helmet along with groceries or daily essentials. There’s also a front hook for hanging bags, a front pocket for your phone or water bottle, and a USB-C charging port, which is thoughtfully placed and genuinely useful.

Buttons, Fit, and Long-Term Expectations
The buttons are of decent quality, though they do feel slightly loose, which makes me wonder how they’ll hold up over time. That said, the overall build still feels premium, and the true test will be long-term durability. EVs inherently require very little servicing, and that works in the Nexus ST’s favor.
Warranty, Price, and Value
Ampere offers a 5-year or 75,000 km battery warranty, which adds peace of mind and reinforces confidence in the product. Pricing for the Nexus ST ranges between ₹1,19,900 and ₹1,29,900 ex-showroom, making it very competitive for what it offers. Considering the performance, features, and utility, the value proposition is strong.

Final Verdict
I’ll be honest, I went in expecting the Nexus ST to be just another average electric scooter with decent specs on paper. Instead, it far exceeded my expectations. The OTA update has changed everything, turning it into a feature-rich, practical, and genuinely enjoyable scooter to ride. If you’re looking for an electric scooter that offers strong performance, modern tech, usable range, and everyday practicality at a competitive price, the Ampere Nexus ST absolutely deserves your attention.
