Tata Motors has expanded its electric SUV portfolio with the launch of the Tata Sierra EV in India. Prices for the electric SUV start at Rs 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a new contender in the premium midsize electric SUV segment. Offered with two battery pack choices, rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, the Sierra EV packs a claimed range of up to 665 km along with a host of technology and comfort features.
Price And Variants
The Sierra EV is available in five variants: Pure, Pure S, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered A.
The entry-level Pure variant with the 63 kWh battery is priced at Rs 18.79 lakh, while the fully-loaded Empowered A AWD tops the range at Rs 25.99 lakh (both prices ex-showroom).
Two Battery Packs, Three Powertrain Options
Buyers can choose between 63 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs.
The smaller battery is offered exclusively with a rear-wheel-drive setup and delivers a claimed 565 km MIDC range.
The larger 75 kWh battery can be paired with either rear-wheel drive or Tata's QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) dual-motor system. In AWD form, the SUV produces 504 Nm of torque and completes the 0-100 kmph sprint in 5.8 seconds using Boost Mode.

Tata claims the 75 kWh version can travel up to 665 km on a full charge under the MIDC cycle, while real-world range is expected to exceed 500 km.
Charging options include 120 kW DC fast charging, as well as 7.2 kW and 3.3 kW AC charging. Using a compatible DC charger, the Sierra EV can add up to 263 km of driving range in 15 minutes, while a 20-80 % charge takes around 26 minutes.
Like other Tata EVs, the Sierra also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging.
Design
Although it shares its overall silhouette with the recently introduced ICE Sierra, the electric version receives a handful of cosmetic changes to distinguish it.

The front fascia features a sealed body-coloured panel instead of a conventional grille, complemented by a redesigned bumper with more gloss black detailing. The SUV also gets EV-specific badging and aero-optimised alloy wheels, while the familiar wraparound rear glass and upright proportions remain unchanged. Ground clearance stands at 205 mm.
Cabin And Features
The Sierra EV carries forward the spacious cabin layout of the ICE model while offering an extensive equipment list.
Depending on the variant, buyers get:
- Triple digital display setup
- Panoramic sunroof
- Powered and ventilated front seats
- Dual-zone climate control
- Ambient lighting
- Powered tailgate
- Wireless phone charger
- Cabin air purifier
- Connected car technology
- Digital key
- OTA software updates
- Head-Up Display
- Auto Park Assist
- Summon Mode
- DrivePay in-car payment feature
- 12-speaker JBL Black audio system with Dolby Atmos support via Apple CarPlay
The electric SUV also offers 622 litres of luggage capacity, expandable to 1,257 litres with the rear seats folded.
Safety
Safety features include six airbags as standard, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and electronic driver assistance systems.

The AWD version adds a 540-degree camera functionality with a transparent underbody view, along with six selectable terrain modes: Normal, Grass/Snow, Mud/Gravel, Sand, Rock Crawl and Custom, and low-speed cruise control for off-road driving.
Lifetime Battery Warranty
Tata Motors is offering the Sierra EV with its lifetime battery warranty, covering the battery for 15 years from the date of registration. The company is also expected to introduce a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option for the model.
Colours And Rivals
The Sierra EV is offered in seven colour options: Rishikesh Rapids, Nainital Nocturn, Pristine White, Andaman Adventure, Pure Grey, Bengal Rouge, and Coorg Cloud, with the first two reserved for QWD variants.
In the Indian market, the Tata Sierra EV takes on rivals including the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, and the VinFast VF6.
