VinFast has revealed the new-generation VF8, and this time the electric SUV has taken a slightly different route. While most new cars usually become bigger with every generation, the new VinFast VF8 has actually become smaller in size. However, the interesting part is that despite shrinking in dimensions, the SUV now makes more power and offers a claimed range of up to 500km. What else does this SUV has on offer? Let's find out.
Vinfast VF8
VinFast has recently revealed the updated VF8, which sits below the larger VF9 in the brand’s global EV lineup. The SUV has been redesigned and is now more compact than before, with its wheelbase reduced by 110mm to 2,840mm. In terms of overall dimensions, the new VF8 measures 4,701mm in length, making it 49mm shorter than before, while its width stands at 1,872mm, which is 62mm narrower. However, at 1,670mm tall, the SUV is now 3mm taller than the outgoing model.

If we talk about the design, it looks cleaner and more mature than before, and still carrying the brand's EV identity. Up front, it features a sleek closed-off grille, slim LED lighting elements and VinFast’s signature V-shaped light pattern, giving the SUV a sharp and futuristic face. The bumper has also been redesigned to look sportier, while the overall front profile appears more compact and sharper than the older model.

From the side, the reduced size looks more pronounced, giving it a more urban-friendly look, but it still retains the strong SUV character with its high shoulder line, sculpted panels and large alloy wheels. At the rear, the design continues with slim connected LED tail-lamps and a cleaner tailgate layout, helping the SUV look modern without appearing too busy. Overall, the updated VF8 looks more refined, compact and premium, while keeping enough road presence for a mid-size electric SUV.
Interior And Features

Stepping inside, it carries forward the same minimalist design. Dominating the dash is the 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment, downsized from a 15.6-inch unit earlier. The centre console looks cleaner without that gear selector; it now houses two cup holders, a wireless charging pad and other cubby storage spaces. Meanwhile, one major change is the addition of the driver's display, which is usually missing in VinFast cars. Moreover, it comes loaded with a powered driver seat, dual-zone climate control, an 8-speaker sound system and an ADAS suite.
Powertrain
The VF8 now gets a smaller 60.13kWh battery pack, which is downsized from 87.7kWh. Meanwhile, it now belts out 561km of range within a single charge. However, power output has been increased to 228bhp and 330nm of torque. Charging capabilities remain the same at 10-70% in just 30 minutes.
