After refreshing the Tiago EV, Tata Motors seems to be gearing up for its next big electric vehicle launch. The upcoming Safari EV has been spotted testing yet again under heavy camouflage, suggesting that the three-row electric SUV is inching closer to production. The model is expected to launch during the festive season later this year. Without delay, let's get into the details.

Tata Safari Spied Testing

Tata Safari EV has been spied testing recently on the Pune highway. Although the test mule was completely camouflaged, the overall silhouette looks the same as the ICE version. Similarly, the test mule boasts an upright stance, a large glass area, a shark-fin antenna, and roof rails. However, it might get some EV styling elements like the closed-off grille, slightly tweaked bumpers and redesigned taillamps. Following the trend, this one was riding on the aero alloy wheels for EVs. Meanwhile, the Safari EV is going to be the first three-row electric vehicle in Tata's portfolio. Reports suggest that both six-seat and seven-seat layouts could be offered, making it a more practical option.

What To Expect?

Similar to its sibling, the Harrier EV, it is expected to underpin the same Acti.ev+ platform, specifically developed for EVs. However, the brand remains tight-lipped about any technical details. But following the speculations, it can borrow Harrier EV's  65kWh and 75 kWh battery packs. Apart from this, the test mule features a multi-link rear suspension setup, hinting that the Safari EV could offer both RWD and AWD configurations, similar to the Harrier EV. Features-wise, it can have a similar set of features to the Harrier EV, which includes a 540-degree camera, a 14.5-inch infotainment, a 10-speaker JBL sound system, summon mode, digital IRVM and much more.

The Safari EV is expected to make its debut during the festive season this year. Although Tata Motors has not officially confirmed any details yet, the electric SUV is likely to rival the Mahindra XEV 9e and VinFast VF MPV 7 in the Indian market after launch.
