Tesla's Model Y has secured a five-star safety rating from the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), one of the world's most stringent vehicle safety testing organisations. The electric SUV delivered impressive results across all major evaluation categories, highlighting its strong crash protection and advanced safety technologies.

Excellent Scores Across Safety Categories

ANCAP assesses vehicles on four key parameters: Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), Vulnerable Road User Protection (VRU) and Safety Assist systems. The Tesla Model Y performed strongly in each area, helping it achieve the highest possible safety rating.

Crash-test images released by ANCAP show that the Model Y's body structure remained stable during both frontal offset and full-width impact tests. One of the key highlights was the vehicle's A-pillar, which maintained its integrity even after severe crash simulations.

The latest five-star rating applies to all standard Tesla Model Y variants, excluding the newly introduced Model Y L. The safety certification is valid for 2025-model-year vehicles and will remain effective until December 2031.
