The Indian electric two-wheeler segment in India has seen a steady growth throughout the year, but has ultimately been subjected to the “December Effect” correction with total volumes dipping because of year-end purchase deferrals.

However, TVS has maintained a solid lead despite the drop, while Bajaj faced the biggest dip in sales. Surprisingly, Ola Electric seems to be back in action, with it being the only company to register a positive number. It is also important to note that Ola’s numbers do not reflect a good sales report, since November was their worst ever month, hitting rock bottom at 8,400 unit sales only.

1. TVS

TVS has remained at the top of the game when it comes to the electric 2W market. The iQube has been a superhit with the Indian public, and TVS’s success can easily be contributed to it.

Despite a 17.4% MoM decline, TVS has managed to sell 25,039 units, maintaining a massive 6,000 unit lead over Bajaj. The decline is not because of a lack of interest but rather because of the seasonal tendency of family buyers to wait for the new calendar year for registration.

2. Bajaj

The biggest surprise was from Bajaj, as the company registered a 26.4% MoM drop and sold only 18,790 units in December. This sharp drop might be attributed to aggressive competition from TVS and Ather. Bajaj will need a refreshed Chetak model to combat the decline.

3. Ather Energy

Ather did not face as massive of a dip as the first two on this list, registering a 16.1% MoM decline, but selling 17,052 units in December, closing in on Bajaj with a mere 1,700 unit difference.

Ather’s Rizta and 450 series have shown consistent performance and reliability, making it a very good choice for those looking to buy an electric scooter.

4. Hero Vida

Hero MotoCorp’s electric sub-brand, Vida, has reported a small decline with a 12.3% dip in sales, selling 10,701 units in December 2025. With the growing popularity of the Hero Vida VX2, the brand is solidifying its position in the market, and successfully planting its feet between the premium Ather and Chetak segment and the mass-market challengers.

5. Ola Electric

Well, after a terrible November, Ola has finally managed to gain a little traction with a 7.4% increase in sales, growing from 8,400 units to 9,020 units. This was to be expected, since Ola’s sales dipped majorly due to the ongoing switch from the previous batteries to the 4680 Bharat Cell. Deliveries of the scooters with the new Bharat Cell began in December, allowing Ola to register more electric scooters in December than in November.
