Bajaj Auto Reclaims the Top Spot as India’s E-2W Market Hits Record Highs

India’s electric two-wheeler (e-2W) market achieved an all-time high in October 2025 with 143,713 units sold, marking a 2% year-on-year growth and an impressive daily average of 4,635 units. The final two days of the month saw peak activity, with sales touching 7,737 units on October 31, underscoring strong festive season momentum.

This marks the third time the industry has crossed the 140,000 monthly sales mark, after March 2024 and October 2024. The robust performance comes despite the introduction of GST 2.0, which reduced internal combustion (IC) vehicle prices and narrowed the price gap with EVs — a sign of the segment’s growing resilience.

Bajaj Auto made a triumphant return to the top of the leaderboard, selling 31,168 Chetak electric scooters and overtaking TVS Motor by 1,684 units. The company’s October sales represent a 10% year-on-year increase, giving it a 22% market share.

This is Bajaj’s second-best performance ever, following its March 2025 peak of 35,215 units. The brand’s consistent sales momentum, especially during the festive period, helped it recover from mid-year production constraints that briefly pushed it down to fifth place in July.

TVS Motor Co., which held the No. 1 rank for six consecutive months, recorded 29,484 iQube sales, a 3% YoY decline. The company cited supply chain challenges related to rare earth magnet shortages as a key reason for slower deliveries.

However, TVS is already strategizing for a comeback with the recent launch of its Orbiter e-scooter at ₹99,900, featuring a 3.1 kWh battery and a range of 158 km per charge. With production recovery on track, TVS is expected to regain momentum in the coming months.
