Union Minister of Heavy Industries & Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy experienced the recently launched Kia’s first ‘Made-in-India’ electric vehicle, Kia Carens Clavis EV at his residence in New Delhi.

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, a key figure in India’s heavy industries and steel sector, experienced the Kia Carens Clavis EV, marking a significant step as it’s Kia’s first electric vehicle manufactured in India, launched to tap into the growing EV market that saw a 91% sales surge in July 2025.

Kumaraswamy’s involvement highlights government interest in promoting domestic EV production, aligning with India’s push for sustainable transport, evidenced by a 2023 NITI Aayog report projecting EVs could constitute 70% of new vehicle sales by 2030 if supported by policy and infrastructure.

The event, held at his New Delhi residence, underscores a blend of political and industrial collaboration, with the Carens Clavis EV’s price range of ₹17.99 Lakh to ₹24.49 Lakh positioning it as a competitive option in the expanding three-row EV MPV segment.
