The move reinforces Mahindra’s role as a pioneering force in electric racing, having joined the championship in 2013 as one of the founding teams and the first original equipment manufacturer to commit to the all-electric category. Over more than a decade, the team has remained a consistent figure in the championship’s evolution from a new concept in sustainable motorsport to a globally established racing platform.Mahindra Racing has built a significant legacy across twelve seasons, collecting multiple accolades that underscore its competitive credentials. The team’s record includes five E-Prix victories, 29 podium finishes, 11 pole positions and more than 1,000 championship points. In Season 11, Mahindra enjoyed a strong campaign, finishing fourth overall. Drivers Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara delivered five podium finishes in the newly redesigned M11Electro, signalling the team’s upward trajectory as it transitions into the next technological era.R Velusamy, Chairman of Mahindra Racing, described the GEN4 commitment as a natural extension of the brand’s innovation-driven philosophy. He emphasised that Mahindra Racing has always embodied the company’s Race to Road vision, where advancements created in the high-pressure environment of motorsport translate into real-world electric mobility solutions. According to him, Formula E offers an essential platform for testing and refining electric powertrain efficiency, sustainable materials and advanced software systems. He added that continuing the journey through 2030 demonstrates Mahindra’s confidence in the sport and its belief in India’s growing importance in global sustainable mobility.Team Principal Frederic Bertrand echoed the sentiment, framing the announcement as a major milestone for the organisation. Bertrand added that the team’s internal rallying cry of Scream Electric continues to inspire its pursuit of excellence.The FIA and Formula E recently disclosed the first details of the GEN4 regulations, which represent the most advanced technical package the championship has introduced to date. The new cars will deliver 450kW of peak race power and an increased 600kW output in attack mode, significantly enhancing overtaking capability. Regenerative braking will reach an unprecedented 700kW, further improving efficiency and enabling greater energy recovery during racing. The GEN4 platform also features an energy capacity of up to 55kWh and will offer two aerodynamic configurations tailored for qualifying and race sessions. Sustainability remains a core component of the regulations, with the car designed using fully recyclable materials to advance the championship’s environmental objectives.Mahindra Racing has long maintained a leading position in sustainability efforts within the sport. It was the first Formula E team to earn the FIA’s Three-Star Environmental Accreditation, the highest recognition for environmental performance in motorsport. In Season 11, the team further expanded its impact initiatives through the launch of Planet Positive, a program centred on community upliftment, sustainable development and climate-focused solutions.Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds welcomed Mahindra’s renewed commitment, acknowledging the brand’s contributions since the early days of the championship.
