Neither scooter is a straightforward "better" pick. It depends on whether you're buying for range-per-rupee or for build quality and service confidence.

Price and Variants
Ola's S1Z comes in exactly two flavours: ₹79,999 for the 3.1 kWh version and ₹99,999 for the 5.1 kWh version. Both are introductory prices, and Ola is charging ₹999 for a reservation.
The Konarc is a bigger family. It splits into an S Line (range and value focused) and a Z Line (performance and tech focused, pricing not out yet). Right now, three S Line variants have confirmed pricing:

This matters because "Ather Konarc starts at ₹99,999" and "Ola S1Z tops out at ₹99,999" are describing two very different scooters at that same number. At ₹99,999, Ola gives you its biggest battery and longest range. At ₹99,999, Ather gives you its smallest battery and shortest range in the S Line.

Battery and Range
This is where the headline numbers look most lopsided.
Ola's Bharat Cell LFP battery pushes the 5.1 kWh S1Z to a claimed 301 km IDC range, nearly three times the Konarc S 100's claimed 100 km at the same price. Even the cheaper S1Z 3.1 kWh, at ₹79,999, claims 179 km, comfortably ahead of the ₹99,999 Konarc S 100.
But there's a catch worth taking seriously: Ather actually tells you what to expect in the real world. Its TrueRange estimate puts the S 100 at 80 km and the S 125 at 100 km, both well below their IDC figures. Ola doesn't publish an equivalent real-world number for the S1Z at all. Its own launch coverage is upfront that IDC isn't the same as daily range, but it stops short of giving you a comparable estimate.
So while the S1Z's range advantage on paper is real and large, you can't directly compare "real-world range" between the two scooters, because only one of them has told you what that number actually is.
Motor and Performance
Both scooters cap out at 70 km/h, so neither is chasing outright speed. The difference shows up in torque and how it scales across variants.

Ola quotes acceleration figures but not torque. Ather quotes torque but not a 0-40 km/h time. Neither company has published the full picture, so a direct performance comparison isn't really possible yet with official numbers alone.
Charging Time
The S1Z is the slower charger of the two on paper. Ola quotes 0-80% home charging at 5 hours 42 minutes for the 3.1 kWh version and 6 hours 16 minutes for the 5.1 kWh version. Ather hasn't published a specific 0-80% figure for the Konarc in its launch coverage, so this is one spec that isn't a fair fight yet. Both scooters are built around overnight home charging rather than quick top-ups.
Brakes, Build and Chassis
This is arguably the sharpest philosophical difference between the two scooters.
The Konarc is built on a new steel unibody chassis with metal body panels, a first for Ather, which has used plastic panelling on its scooters until now. The motor and battery casing are both IP67-rated. Brakes step up as you move up the range: the S 100 uses drums front and rear, while the S 125 and S 161 add a 220 mm front disc.
The S1Z rides on 12-inch wheels at both ends across both variants. Ola's own product page doesn't detail brake hardware, and independent listings suggest drum brakes front and rear on both versions, meaning even the top S1Z variant may not get a front disc.
Practically, this means at the exact ₹99,999 price point, brakes aren't a differentiator; both the S1Z 5.1 kWh and the Konarc S 100 appear to use drums at both ends. The disc brake advantage on the Konarc only kicks in once you spend more than either S1Z variant costs.

Features and Software
Both scooters lean on their software as a selling point, not just the hardware spec sheet.
The S1Z runs MoveOS 5, with cruise control, regenerative braking, reverse mode, GPS, OTA updates, ride statistics, geo- and time-fencing, and an Easy Park low-speed manoeuvring aid.
The Konarc runs Ather Connect across the range, covering tow and theft alerts, ride stats, Find My Scooter, remote charging status and OTA updates, plus AutoHold. The Z Line (not yet priced) adds MagicKey keyless entry, AutoPop for hands-free boot opening, an Advanced Electronic Braking System Ather says improves peak braking force by up to 20%, and a bigger touchscreen with Google Maps and WhatsApp alerts.
If you're comparing what's actually included at ₹99,999 today, the S1Z's software list looks more complete than the Konarc S 100's, since Ather's more advanced features currently sit behind the unpriced, unavailable Z Line.
Warranty
Ola offers a standard 3-year/40,000 km warranty on the S1Z, extendable to 8 years/70,000 km. Ather's headline number is a 10-year battery warranty on the Konarc, though terms apply and the company hasn't detailed what's covered on the rest of the vehicle for that same period.
On paper, Ather's number sounds longer, but the two aren't stated on a like-for-like basis (battery-only vs whole-vehicle), so treat this as a "check the fine print before you compare" spec rather than a clean win for either side.
Delivery Timeline: The Real Difference
This is the part most buyers overlook, and it changes the comparison more than the spec sheets do.

If you want a scooter before the end of 2026, neither brand's cheapest offer gets you there. You'd need to spend more on a Konarc S 125 or S 161, both delivering from September 2026.
At the identical ₹99,999 price point, the wait is nearly the same on both sides: Ola's 5.1 kWh S1Z ships from March 2027, and Ather's Konarc S 100 ships from Q1 2027 (which stretches into March too). So the "301 km vs 100 km at the same price" comparison is real, but neither scooter actually reaches your driveway any sooner than the other at that price.
Should You Book the S1Z or the Konarc?
Want a scooter before this year ends, budget isn't the constraint: Book the Ather Konarc S 125 or S 161. These are the only options from either brand delivering in 2026.
Want the cheapest, earliest option and can live with 179 km range: Book the Ola S1Z 3.1 kWh. December 2026 delivery, ₹79,999, and you still get the full MoveOS 5 feature set.
Want maximum range for ₹99,999 and don't mind waiting to March 2027: Book the Ola S1Z 5.1 kWh. The 301 km IDC claim is hard to match at this price from any brand right now.
Want Ather's build quality, service network and battery warranty, and are fine waiting a similar amount of time anyway: Book the Ather Konarc S 100, keeping in mind its real-world TrueRange estimate is 80 km.

The number everyone's going to repeat is "301 km for ₹99,999 vs 100 km for ₹99,999," and it's not wrong. But it's an incomplete way to compare these two scooters, because it treats "available at the same price" as "available at the same time." It isn't. Both companies are asking ₹99,999 buyers to wait until roughly the same point in early 2027, which means the real choice at that price isn't range vs range, it's what you're willing to wait for: a much bigger number on Ola's spec sheet, or Ather's service history, metal build and IP67-rated hardware.
We'd also point out that the two companies are making opposite bets to reach a similar price. Ola is spending its engineering effort on the battery cell itself, building the pack in-house to squeeze out more range per rupee. Ather is spending its effort on the platform underneath the battery, a new chassis, metal panels, sealed IP67 components, aimed at fewer service visits over the scooter's life rather than a bigger number on day one. Neither approach is wrong, but they're solving for different things, and most comparisons flatten that into a single "which is better" verdict when it's really a "what do you value" question.
One more thing worth flagging: if brakes matter to you, don't assume the pricier badge wins by default. At ₹99,999, both the S1Z and the Konarc S 100 appear to use drum brakes at both ends. You only get a front disc on the Konarc once you move up to the S 125, which costs ₹22,000 more than either Ola variant.
Common Misunderstandings
"The Ola S1Z is available sooner because it's cheaper." Not really. The 3.1 kWh version is, at December 2026. But the 5.1 kWh S1Z, the one people are actually comparing to the Konarc's headline price, ships from March 2027, around the same window as the Konarc S 100.
"Ather Konarc has disc brakes." Only from the S 125 upward. The ₹99,999 S 100 uses drum brakes front and rear, the same setup independent listings suggest for the S1Z.
"301 km vs 100 km means the Ola goes three times as far in real riding." IDC figures aren't real-world range for either brand. Ather's own TrueRange estimate for the S 100 is 80 km, a 20% drop from its IDC claim. Ola hasn't published a comparable real-world number, so the true gap between the two scooters is currently unknown, not necessarily 3x.
"Both scooters are ready to ride home today." Neither is. Every variant of both scooters has a delivery date somewhere between September 2026 and Q3 2027, depending on which one you pick.
