Earlier recognized by Euro NCAP with a 5-star rating in September 2025, the e Vitara has now reaffirmed its strong safety credentials on Indian soil as well. With impressive scores of 31.49 out of 32 for adult occupant protection (AOP) and 43 out of 49 for child occupant protection (COP) , the model sets a new safety benchmark for Maruti Suzuki’s EV lineup. This electric SUV is the fourth model from Maruti to be tested under Bharat NCAP standards, following the Dzire, Baleno and Invicto. However, none of the previous models have achieved scores as high as the e Vitara, making it the new flagship for safety within the brand’s portfolio.Bharat NCAP evaluated the top-spec Alpha variant of the e Vitara, equipped with a 61 kWh battery pack. The ratings, however, extend to the Delta and Zeta trims as well, which are offered with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery options. This ensures uniform safety performance across the entire e Vitara lineup regardless of variant choice. In the adult occupant protection tests, the e Vitara performed exceptionally well. During the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it received 15.49 out of 16 points , showcasing strong protection for critical body regions. The evaluation noted good protection for the head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet of the driver. The chest and tibias received adequate protection, but this minor dip was not significant enough to affect the overall score adversely. The SUV excelled in the side impact tests, scoring a full 16 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier evaluation. The side pole impact results also indicated good protection for the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis. These results highlight the robustness of the e Vitara’s body structure and the effectiveness of its safety restraint systems. The child occupant protection tests further strengthened the SUV’s safety profile. With a full dynamic score of 24 out of 24 and a complete 12 out of 12 in CRS installation, the e Vitara proved highly child-friendly. Both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were seated in rearward-facing child seats and recorded full points in both frontal and side crash evaluations. The only area where the vehicle lost points was the vehicle assessment category, scoring 7 out of 13 , which affected the overall COP score. However, the final child protection score of 43 out of 49 still positions the e Vitara as one of the safest family-oriented electric SUVs in the country. On the features front, the top-spec Alpha variant of the e Vitara is equipped with several advanced safety technologies. These include 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, tire pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX mounts, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and Level 2 ADAS . The inclusion of ADAS makes it the second Maruti Suzuki model after the Victoris to offer this feature, adding an extra layer of driver assistance and collision avoidance capability. When compared with its chief rival, the Mahindra BE 6, the e Vitara maintains a strong position but falls marginally short on scores. The BE 6 also secured a 5-star rating but achieved 0.49 points more in adult protection and 2 points higher in child protection . Despite this, the e Vitara’s overall performance remains highly competitive and commendable, especially considering Maruti’s newer entry into the electric SUV segment. With its strong crash test results, comprehensive safety kit and consistent protection for both adults and children , the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara stands out as a well-rounded and dependable electric SUV. It reinforces Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to offering safer vehicles for Indian buyers, especially in the fast-growing EV market.
