Mercedes-Benz seems all set to expand its EV lineup in India with the all-electric CLA sedan. The new-generation CLA was revealed globally just last month, and its electric version is already listed on the brand’s official Indian website, hinting strongly at an upcoming launch.
Design
India previously received the first-generation CLA as a stylish entry-level luxury sedan, known for its coupe-like design and frameless doors. While that space is now occupied by the A-Class Limousine, the new CLA EV will avoid any overlap as it enters the market in its all-electric avatar.

The upcoming model, officially called the Mercedes-Benz CLA with EQ Technology, stays true to the CLA’s signature design. Only now, it’s more futuristic. It features:
- A sleek silhouette with a closed-off illuminated grille
- Star-patterned LED DRLs and connected LED headlamps
- Flush door handles and aerodynamic details
- 19-inch alloys and connected LED taillights with Mercedes’ star signature
Interior
Inside, the CLA EV feels upscale and modern. It comes with up to three screens:
- A 14.6-inch infotainment unit
- A 14-inch passenger display
- A 10.25-inch digital cluster
A fixed panoramic glass roof and ambient lighting further elevate the cabin feel.

Performance and range
Mercedes promises strong performance and tech in the CLA EV. As per the Indian site:
- It’s built on an 800V electric architecture
- Supports ultra-fast charging up to 350 kW
- Delivers a claimed WLTP range of 750 km
- Uses a new 2-speed gearbox for smoother electric driving
It’s not yet confirmed whether India will get the RWD 250+ variant (268 bhp, 335 Nm) or the AWD 350 4MATIC version (350 bhp, 515 Nm). Indian buyers can expect the EV to be priced at Rs. 60 Lakh onwards.
