Luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz has announced a recall for its electric G Class in India due to a potential wheel bolts issue. It affects a limited batch of 99 units of G580 with EQ technology manufactured in India between July 12, 2024, and August 18, 2025.

According to the reports, the issue is linked to wheel bolts that may not meet the company’s required specifications. Over time, these bolts could loosen under normal driving conditions, potentially affecting wheel stability and overall vehicle safety.

Mercedes-Benz has warned that continued driving with the affected wheel bolts could impact vehicle stability and safety. In difficult situations, a loose wheel connection may increase the chances of an accident. To resolve the issue, the company will reportedly reach out to impacted customers and inspect the vehicles at authorised service centres free of charge. If any defective parts are found during the inspection, they will be replaced with revised components. As a precautionary measure, the company is expected to contact affected owners and carry out inspections at authorised dealerships free of cost. Faulty components, if detected, will reportedly be replaced with updated parts.
