Hyundai is gearing up to shake up the competition with a new electric crossover SUV, likely to be the Hyundai IONIQ 2, set to debut in the coming months. It is expected to sit between the Inster and the Kona Electric, as Hyundai expands its entry-level EV lineup.Is Hyundai launching the IONIQ 2 in 2026?After launching the Inster last year, Hyundai is set to launch the IONIQ 2 in the entry-level EV market in Europe.Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Europe, confirmed that the new EV will be revealed “in the next few months.” It will be built in Europe and scheduled to go on sale in mid-2026.Kia EV2 Twin Car?Hyundai’s new electric crossover is expected to be a twin to the Kia EV2, which will likely arrive just before it next year.Underpinned by the same E-GMP platform, it will likely have either a 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh battery pack option. With a range of 429 km and 598 km respectively, it might have the same features of any other technologically advanced EV in the market, particularly with a new software and infotainment system.When it launches next year, it will be the sixth model in Hyundai’s EV portfolio.
