Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has officially started production of its much-anticipated electric SUV, the e-Vitara. The company’s first global strategic battery electric vehicle (BEV) will be manufactured in India and exported to more than 100 countries, including major markets such as Europe and Japan .The e-Vitara marks Suzuki’s global entry into the electric SUV segment and will play a critical role in the brand’s multi-powertrain strategy aimed at capturing 50 percent market share in the coming years.Launch Plans and Dealership StrategyThe Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is scheduled to go on sale in September 2025 . While the company has officially confirmed the launch timeline, speculation remains about whether Maruti will introduce the e-Vitara on the same day.According to reports, MSIL has already set September 3, 2025 as the launch date for a new SUV. While some sources claim the e-Vitara will make its debut on this date, others suggest that it could be reserved for the Escudo, which will be retailed exclusively through ARENA dealerships .Meanwhile, the e-Vitara will be sold through the premium NEXA network , which currently has over 600 stores across India. Performance-wise, the e-Vitara claims 0-100km/h acceleration in under 9 seconds .For charging, the SUV will support fast charging technology .
