Renault Megane EV has been spotted in India once more! This time with a Chennai number plate.It’s been a year since the Renault Megane EV was spotted in India, with sources revealing that the vehicle was being used for internal testing . The first-gen Megane (ICE) was launched in 1995, with the Megane EV launched in 2022 in the European markets .With an impending launch, Renault has been waiting a long time to launch this EV in India. However, now, with the new government scheme reducing import duty from 110% to 15% , the launch of the Megane EV seems imminent.Manufacturers like Skoda, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, and Kia have expressed interest in the Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Electric Passenger Cars in India (SPMEPCI).SPMEPCI is applicable for EVs that are priced above USD 35,000 or approx. ₹30 lakh. It offers two front-wheel-drive (FWD) options of 96kW (130 hp) and 160 kW (220 hp) . The higher variant can achieve top acceleration 0 to 100 kmph in around 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 159 kmph . While originally launched with 40 kWh and 60 kWh battery packs , most markets now only have the 60 kWh battery pack. As per the WLTP standards, the range is 285 miles or 460 km .
