After a long wait, Toyota has finally announced the pricing of its first electric SUV for India, the Urban Cruiser Ebella. While the SUV is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. The brand recently revealed the standard price of the top-spec E3 variant at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, Toyota has made the electric SUV more accessible by introducing a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, which starts at Rs 15.25 lakh along with Rs 4.99 per km battery rental cost.
Notably, Toyota has only revealed the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) pricing through its promotional material and not in the official variant-wise price list. The company has not specified which variant this pricing applies to, although it is likely to be for the fully loaded E3 trim, which is currently priced at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom).

For comparison, the top-spec Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Alpha is priced at Rs 20.01 lakh (ex-showroom) with full ownership, while its BaaS price stands at Rs 14.51 lakh with a battery rental charge of Rs 4.39 per kilometre. This means the Ebella carries a premium over its Maruti sibling, both in terms of purchase price and battery subscription cost. However, Toyota is yet to announce prices for the lower E1 and E2 variants of the Urban Cruiser Ebella. These variants are also expected to get BaaS pricing options in the coming weeks.
