2025 was truly the year of MG Motor, with FOUR launches in just a year!

MG Windsor EV, launched in September last year, has remained the best selling EV since, giving MG a huge market share, right next to Tata. MG Windsor EV is priced at ₹14.00 Lakh going up to ₹16.15 Lakh. Additionally, MG introduced a new ownership model called Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), which put the EV at a starting price of ₹9.99 Lakh with ₹3.9 per km.

Under the hood, the Windsor EV is powered by a 38 kWh LFP battery, 134 bhp motor, 200 Nm of torque, allowing the car to offer a respectable range of up to 331 km on a single charge (ARAI tested). Drivers can choose from four driving modes—Eco, Eco+, Normal, and Sport—to suit their preferences and optimize the car's performance and energy consumption. The charging time is as follows- 13.8 hours with a 3.3 kW AC Charger, 6.5 hours with a 7.4 kW AC Fast Charger, and just 55 minutes with a 50 kW DC Fast Charger.

The company then launched the Windsor EV Pro, giving additional features and enhanced experience to their growing customer base. MG Windsor EV Pro is priced at ₹17.25 Lakh going up to ₹18.31 Lakh and with BaaS at a price of ₹12.25 Lakh with ₹4.5 per km.

This version came with a 52.9 kWh battery pack, 449 km of range, 136 PS motor, 200 Nm torque. A few additional features include Level 2 ADAS, V2L, V2V, and powered tailgate.

They have since launched two other models, the M9 and the Cyberster.

Priced at ₹69.90 Lakh, the MG M9 is powered by an electric motor that generates 245 PS of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque, delivering smooth yet powerful performance. The MPV is equipped with a large 90 kWh battery pack, which, according to MG, provides an impressive range of 548 km on a single charge.

The Cyberster, on the other hand, is a two-door electric sports car with a powerful dual-motor AWD setup, priced at ₹75 Lakh and equipped with a 77 kWh battery offering around 580 km range, and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in approximately 3.2 seconds. Key features include electric scissor doors, a triple-screen cockpit, and a top speed of 200 km/h.

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz also introduced two new electric cars, the EQS 450 SUV and the G-Class Electric.

The EQS 450 SUV is an all-electric, luxury SUV, priced at ₹1.31 Crore, with a 122 kWh battery, offering a range of approximately 820 km and delivering 355 bhp through its all-wheel-drive system. It features dual electric motors, an adaptive air suspension, up to a 10-50% DC fast charge in roughly 31 minutes, and luxury interior features like an available 12.3-inch infotainment display.

The electric Mercedes G-Class, also known as the G 580 with EQ Technology, is priced at ₹3 Crore and features a 116 kWh battery offering a certified range of up to 473 km, with 587 bhp of power and 1164 Nm of torque from four electric motors. It charges from 10-80% in 32 minutes with a 200 kW DC fast charger and has a 5-seater capacity.

Hyundai Creta Electric

The Hyundai Creta Electric is priced at ₹18.02 Lakh to ₹24.40 Lakh, available with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs, offering a range of up to 510 km on a single charge. It features a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with max power of up to 169 bhp and supports both 11 kW AC and 50 kW DC fast charging, with the latter reaching 10-80% in about 58 minutes.

BYD

BYD also launched two new cars, the Sealion 7 and eMax 7.

The BYD Sealion 7, priced at ₹48.90 Lakh to ₹54.90 Lakh, includes a choice of powertrains with up to 523 bhp of power, a 82.56 kWh battery, a maximum range of 567 km, and supports 230kW DC fast charging for a 10-80% charge in about 24 minutes.

The BYD eMax 7, is priced at ₹26.90 Lakh to ₹29.90 Lakh, and offers two battery options in India: a 55.4 kWh battery with a 420 km range and a larger 71.8 kWh battery with a 530 km range, both featuring a 161 bhp motor with 310 Nm of torque.

Mahindra

Mahindra finally entered the electric mobility space with the launch of its BEVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6.

The Mahindra BE 6 is priced at ₹18.9 lakh to ₹26.9 lakh, offering two battery packs, 59 and 79 kWh, with a max range of 682 km, 286 PS motor, 380 Nm torque and goes from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.7 seconds. DC fast charging allows 20-80% top-up in just 20 minutes.

Alongside the BE 6, the XEV 9e was also launched at ₹21.90 lakh up to ₹30.50 lakh, with all the same technical specs as the BE6 but offers additional features in terms of comfort, safety and interior.

Rolls Royce

Rolls Royce also launched the Black Badge Spectre at a price of ₹9.5 Crore, with a battery pack of 102 kWh, 530 km range, 250 kmph top speed, 659 bhp motor, and a DC fast charging (0-80%) time of 34 minutes.

Tata Motors

The Tata Harrier EV is priced at ₹21.49 lakh to ₹30.23 lakh, offering two battery packs, 65 and 75 kWh, with a max range of 627 km, 238 PS motor, 504 Nm torque and goes from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds. DC fast charging allows 0-80% top-up in just 25 minutes.

Kia

Kia also launched two EVs, namely the EV9 and the Carens Clavis EV.

The EV9 is priced at ₹1.30 crore, and comes equipped with a robust 99.8 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of up to 561 km on a single charge, making it ideal for long journeys. It features a dual motor setup generating 384 PS of power and 700 Nm of torque, giving the SUV excellent acceleration. The 0-100 km/h sprint is achieved in just 5.3 seconds, showcasing its performance capabilities.

The Carens Clavis EV is priced at ₹17.99 lakh to ₹24.49 lakh, offering two battery packs, 42 and 51.4 kWh, with a max range of 490 km, 171 PS motor, 255 Nm torque and goes from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.4 seconds. DC fast charging allows 10-80% top-up in just 39 minutes.

Tesla finally came to India with their flagship Model Y, priced at ₹59.89 Lakh, offering two versions, RWD and Long Range RWD, with a max range of 622 km, and goes from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds. DC fast charging adds 267 km in just 15 minutes.

VinFast also made its debut in India with their flagship SUVs — VF6 and VF7.
