Mahindra XEV 9S and XEV 9e: Exterior Differences
The Mahindra XEV 9e boasts a coupe-styled SUV design, while the XEV 9S takes a more traditional upright SUV stance, much like the design of the XUV700. Dimensions remain mostly the same, with the only notable difference being the wheelbase. The XEV 9S has a slightly shorter wheelbase at 2762 mm as compared to XEV 9e at 2775 mm.
Despite all of this, XEV 9S carries the Born Electric DNA, with features like full-width LED DRLs, vertically stacked LED headlights, and the illuminated Mahindra logo.
The XEV 9S gets 18-inch tires, as compared to the 19-inch in XEV 9e. The 9S gets rear windshield wipers, while the 9e doesn’t require them due to different body styles.
When it comes to color options, the XEV 9S carries over most of the shades from the 9e, but skips the Deep Forest green and Tango Red. The XEV 9S does also add a new color, called the Desert Myst which is a signature color specifically for this one.
Both the EVs are built on the INGLO platform, with very little difference between the two in terms of performance and charging tech.
Ultimately, the choice between the two comes down to the interior and feel-good features.

Mahindra XEV 9S and XEV 9e: Interior Changes
On the inside, the XEV 9S remains largely the same, with a triple 12.3-inch screen dashboard, two-spoke steering wheel, and same center console design.
The standout feature is the increased seating capacity, especially for families that need the seven seats. The 9S also benefits largely from newer and more convenience-focused equipment. This includes a sliding, reclining and ventilated second row seats, powered Boss Mode, foldable tray array for the second row, and more. It also features an openable panoramic sunroof, a significant upgrade from the XEV 9e’s fixed glass roof.
You also get sunshades for the rear seats, adjustable headrest, and even dedicated AC vents for better comfort. The cabin also gets ambient lighting, soft-touch panels and a refined interior.
Overall, the XEV 9S is a significant upgrade in terms of the interior, making more practical sense for family buyers, which makes sense since anyone looking at a 7-seater is going to prioritize rear passenger comfort as well.

Final Verdict
Depending on your needs, the Mahindra XEV 9S has the capability to fulfill all roles and be a reliable companion for long trips with your family. Mahindra XEV 9e on the other hand offers slightly less seating capacity which might be a deal breaker for some people. The XEV 9S also has better interior comfort, making for a more practical choice when considering the 7-seater segment. Overall, both cars are reliable in their tech and specs, leaving nothing more to be desired.
