Maruti Suzuki has recently launched their first electric SUV the e Vitara, which marked their entry into the electric space. But seems like the brand has plans to further expand its electric portfolio. A heavily camouflaged Maruti test mule has now been spotted testing, and early details suggest that it could be the brand’s upcoming YMC electric MPV. Although the brand remains tight-lipped about any details, we can still speculate a lot of things based on the spyshots. Without delay, let's get into the details.

A heavily camouflaged test mule has been spied testing on Indian soil, speculated to be an electric MPV from Maruti. Going by the spyshots, we can make out that it has an upright SUV-like stance, along with those conventional door handles instead of following the trend. The front fascia resembles the Victoris SUV due to the conventionally placed headlight unit, along with the DRLs and the front grille. While YMC is to be based on the same Heartect-e/27PL platform as the e Vitara. Moreover, the test mule was spotted riding on 18-inch wheels, the same as the e vitara again. Moving to the rear, it seems to have a connected LED taillamp setup along with those horizontally placed projectors at the bottom. Of course, don't forget that shark fin antenna. YMC happens to be a 7-seater electric vehicle, but in order to cater to different preferences, it could feature a 5-seater as well.

Battery And Range

Maruti remains silent on any technical details as of now. However, since the model is expected to share underpinnings with its sibling e Vitara, it could borrow a similar set of battery packs as well. So, it might get two battery packs, 49 kWh and 61.1kWh with a claimed range of almost 500km, similar to the e Vitara.

Launch Timeline

There's no official confirmation about the launch timeline, but it is expected to come up around late 2026 or early 2027. Considering the fact that Maruti Suzuki has been relatively late to the electric vehicle space. After the e Vitara, the YMC could become Maruti’s second major electric offering and its first electric MPV.
