Mahindra & Mahindra has firmly committed to a sustainable future with a roadmap that includes launching seven new electric vehicles (EVs) in India by 2030. With the BE 6 and XEV 9e already introduced, attention now shifts to the five electric SUVs that are yet to hit Indian roads. Here's a look at the five upcoming Mahindra electric cars, their expected launch timelines, specifications, and pricing.
Mahindra XEV 7e
The Mahindra XEV 7e is a three-row, all-electric SUV expected to debut during the festive Diwali season later this year. Essentially the EV version of the XUV700, the XEV 7e was first leaked during one of Mahindra’s internal presentations. It will likely share its battery pack, features, and electric motor with the XEV 9e, promising a comparable driving range. Positioned to directly rival the Tata Harrier EV, the XEV 7e is expected to be priced between ₹20 to ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
Set to launch within the next 2-3 months, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV is a compact electric SUV that has been frequently spotted testing. Designed to go head-to-head with the Tata Nexon EV, it is likely to be priced starting around ₹15 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will sit below the XUV400 EV and will feature a 35 kWh battery, offering a driving range of approximately 250-350 km. With a shorter rear overhang, this EV is expected to combine sporty aesthetics with practical range.
Mahindra Thar Electric (Thar.e)
Unveiled as a concept during the 2023 FutureScape event in South Africa, the Mahindra Thar.e is an all-electric version of the iconic Thar SUV. Built on the INGLO electric skateboard platform, this five-door EV will come in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants. The production model is expected to be revealed by late 2026 and is likely to retain the rugged DNA of the Thar while being future-ready with electric performance.
Mahindra Bolero Electric (Bolero.e)
The electric avatar of the Bolero, possibly named Bolero.e, is under development and will also be based on the INGLO platform. Unlike the current ladder-frame chassis model, the Bolero EV will feature a more modern design and architecture. The SUV is expected to have a longer wheelbase, between 2775 mm and 2975 mm, and will offer two battery options: 60 kWh and 80 kWh. These could deliver ranges of over 300 km and 430 km respectively. A mid-2027 launch is on the cards.
Mahindra Scorpio Electric
Rounding off the EV lineup is the Scorpio Electric, slated for launch by early 2028. This SUV will share many components with the Bolero.e and Thar.e, including the battery pack and platform. The Scorpio EV may have an extended wheelbase of up to 2950 mm, enhancing cabin comfort. It’s expected to offer both RWD and AWD variants and may be exported to international markets such as South Africa and Australia, making it a globally relevant model.
As Mahindra gears up to expand its EV portfolio, these five models promise to bring a diverse mix of ruggedness, practicality, and innovation to the Indian electric vehicle space. Whether you’re an off-road enthusiast or an urban commuter, Mahindra's future EV range has something in store for everyone. Stay tuned as India moves closer to an electric mobility revolution.
