The Chinese manufacturer, BYD has earned its position among the largest EV manufacturers in the world with 1M sales in just 25 months of launch of its trademark EV, the Seagull.The launch of the Seagull has helped to improve BYD’s overall position in the global market with a highly affordable pricing and competitive range. For a while, it even surpassed the Tesla Model Y in 2024 in China’s EV charts. To top it off, it even outsold multiple cars, including petrol models, registering a dispatch of 60131 units in May 2025 . However, in terms of direct rivalry, the Seagull stands against models like Volkswagen ID.2 and the Fiat 500e.The Dolphin Surf, which is the European variant of the Seagull model, comes with two battery options, 30 kWh and 43.2 kWh , with a claimed range of 507 km on a single charge.Considering the affordability and the desirable specs, the BYD Seagull has the potential to improve the sales of the manufacturer in the Indian market.
