Hero MotoCorp Crosses 1 Lakh Annual EV Sales in 2025 as Demand for Vida VX2 Surges
Hero MotoCorp has achieved its strongest-ever performance in the electric two-wheeler market, powered by surging demand for its newly launched Vida VX2 and the steadily growing V2 range. For the first time in its EV journey, the company has crossed the 100,000-unit mark within a single calendar year. According to Vahan Dashboard retail data, Hero delivered 100,383 Vida electric scooters between January 1 and December 5, 2025. This milestone also pushes cumulative Vida EV sales beyond 150,000 units since the lineup’s commercial debut in October 2022.
The company’s EV expansion, which began nearly three years ago, has seen a sharp growth curve in 2025. From total EV sales of just 55,033 units between November 2022 and December 2024, Hero MotoCorp has accelerated to add more than 100,000 new deliveries in the first eleven months and five days of the current year alone. This means nearly 65 percent of all Vida electric scooters sold to date were delivered in 2025, underlining the brand’s rising acceptance and expanding nationwide presence.
A Breakout Year Marked by Consistent Month-on-Month Growth
Hero MotoCorp’s performance in 2025 reflects a strengthening market position and a rapidly maturing product portfolio. The year began modestly with 1,626 units in January, but the momentum built quickly. Monthly retail sales crossed 6,000 units from March to June and then breached the five-digit mark in July for the first time with 10,548 units. Remarkably, the company maintained over 10,000 sales per month for five consecutive months.
October emerged as the strongest month with 16,017 Vida scooters sold, the highest-ever monthly tally for the company. Even the first five days of December saw 1,984 registrations, indicating continued consumer traction.
This consistent month-on-month growth has helped Hero MotoCorp secure a stable presence in the monthly Top 10 EV OEM list. It entered the year at Rank 7 in January, then climbed steadily to Rank 6 in February. From March through October, Hero consistently held Rank 5 before overtaking Ola Electric in November to claim the No. 4 position — its highest ranking yet.

Growing Market Share in a Competitive EV Landscape
With sales of 100,383 units in 2025 so far, Hero MotoCorp has registered a robust 135 percent year-on-year growth rate. These numbers translate into an 8 percent share of India’s electric two-wheeler market, which has seen total sales of around 1.19 million units this year.
The only OEMs ahead of Hero MotoCorp are TVS with 278,596 units (23 percent share), Bajaj Auto with 254,629 Chetak sales (21 percent), Ola Electric at 191,384 units (16 percent), and Ather Energy at 186,664 units (15 percent). Hero now joins this exclusive group of manufacturers that have crossed the 100,000-unit threshold this calendar year. Below this top five group, Greaves Electric Mobility, which sells Ampere electric scooters, is the next closest competitor with 52,441 units.
What’s Fueling Hero’s EV Surge: The Vida V2 and the Game-Changing VX2
The backbone of Hero MotoCorp’s remarkable 2025 performance is its expanded and strategically priced product portfolio. The Vida V2, introduced in December 2024, refreshed the earlier V1 range and delivered better range, performance, and features. Available in two variants, the V2 Plus with a 3.4 kWh battery offers 143 km of range and an 85 kmph top speed, while the V2 Pro extends the range to 165 km with a 90 kmph top speed.
However, the true accelerator has been the Vida VX2, launched in July 2025. This model has quickly become one of the most affordable electric scooters in India thanks to Hero’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) pricing, which significantly reduces the upfront purchase cost. The base VX2 Go variant, priced at ₹73,850 ex-showroom, drops dramatically to ₹44,990 under the BaaS option. Similarly, the VX2 Plus variant costs ₹57,990 with BaaS and ₹94,800 without it.
This pricing strategy has allowed Hero to target value-conscious buyers and fleet operators, segments that are increasingly critical in India’s expanding EV market.
Battery Options, Performance, and Fast-Charging Capabilities
A key differentiator for the Vida VX2 range is its removable battery system. The VX2 Go is equipped with a single 2.2 kWh removable battery offering a real-world range of 92 km. The VX2 Plus, on the other hand, comes with dual removable batteries totaling 3.4 kWh and providing up to 142 km range — similar to the Vida V2 Pro.
Both variants are powered by a motor that generates 6 kW peak power, 3.9 kW continuous power, and 25 Nm torque. The VX2 Plus delivers a 0 to 40 kmph acceleration time of 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 80 kmph, while the Go variant posts a 4.2-second acceleration time and a 70 kmph top speed.
Charging flexibility is another standout feature. VX2 owners can charge the batteries within the scooter or remove them for indoor charging. Additionally, the VX2 supports India’s expanding fast-charging ecosystem, including access to 4,600 fast-charging points nationwide, of which 4,000 belong to the Ather Grid network.
New 3.4 kWh Variant Strengthens the VX2 Go Portfolio
On November 10, Hero MotoCorp further strengthened its lineup by introducing a new 3.4 kWh variant of the VX2 Go. Priced at ₹84,800 (or ₹60,000 with BaaS), this version offers significantly improved range and is designed to bridge the gap between affordability and longer daily commuting needs. It delivers up to 100 km of real-world range — 36 km more than the earlier 2.2 kWh variant — and shares similar hardware and features with the rest of the VX2 Go family.
With its rapidly expanding Vida portfolio, competitive pricing, nationwide fast-charging compatibility, and aggressive market expansion strategy, Hero MotoCorp has firmly positioned itself as one of the fastest-growing EV brands in India. The company’s performance in 2025 is not only its best yet but also a clear signal that it intends to challenge the current market leaders in the years ahead.
