The upcoming JSW-Chery iCAUR V23 electric SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads without camouflage for the first time, offering the clearest look yet at its production-ready design. The latest sighting suggests that development is progressing steadily ahead of its expected India debut in 2027.
The iCAUR V23 is expected to be one of the first all-electric SUVs to emerge from the partnership between JSW Group and Chinese automaker Chery.
Boxy Design Inspired By Off-Road SUVs
Unlike most electric SUVs currently on sale, the iCAUR V23 adopts a rugged, retro-inspired design. The SUV features a boxy silhouette, upright stance, round LED headlamps and squared wheel arches, giving it a distinct off-road character.

The latest spy images also reveal the rear-mounted storage box, chunky bumpers and wide body proportions that closely resemble the model already on sale in international markets.
Premium Cabin
Although the interior wasn't visible in the latest test mule, the global-spec iCAUR V23 offers a minimalist cabin centred around a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Other expected features include a digital driver's display, wireless smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, connected car technology, panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS and multiple airbags. The production model for India is likely to retain most of these features.
Battery And Powertrain
Globally, the iCAUR V23 is available with two electric powertrain options.
The entry-level rear-wheel-drive version uses a 59.9 kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor producing around 134 bhp and 180 Nm of torque. It offers a claimed driving range of up to 400 km.
Higher variants feature an 81.8 kWh battery pack with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing over 200 bhp and 290 Nm of torque. This version claims a driving range of up to 500 km on a single charge, depending on the test cycle. It remains to be seen whether JSW-Chery will introduce both battery options in India.
India Launch Timeline
The iCAUR V23 is expected to arrive after JSW launches its first SUV based on the Jetour T2. Recent sightings of multiple Chery-based vehicles in India, including the Jaecoo J5 EV and Jetour T2, indicate that the company is actively preparing its product portfolio for the Indian market.
While an official launch date has not been announced, industry reports suggest the iCAUR V23 could make its India debut in early 2027.
Once launched, the JSW-Chery iCAUR V23 will compete with electric SUVs such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Maruti e Vitara and MG ZS EV.
