Mahindra Auto is all set for their upcoming ‘Scream Electric’ event in Bengaluru, and the grand stage will witness the launch of India’s potentially most popular 7-seater electric SUV. Dubbed the XEV 9s, the e-SUV comes after just one year of the launch of BE 6 and XEV 9e, as a part of an aggressive product portfolio expansion.Scream Electric event is scheduled for 26th and 27th November, 2025 and will take place in Bengaluru. Ahead of that, Mahindra has teased the upcoming electric SUV along with the official name. Following the XEV 9e, this is called the XEV 9s. Previously thought to be XEV 7e, Mahindra is taking a different route with the name for this one.It has been almost a year since the launch of the BE 6 and XEV 9e, with deliveries beginning in March 2025. These SUVs have sold over 20,000 units in just 5 months, indicating a strong demand for Mahindra’s electric portfolio. It makes sense that Mahindra is expanding its Electric Origin SUV lineup to include the XEV 9s.Unlike the XEV 9e, which is a coupe design, the XEV 9s will be more conventional without a sloping roofline. This, of course, is to accommodate the third-row seating in the 7-seater design. It is speculated that Mahindra might also expand this lineup to include a 6s variant with captain chairs in the second row to expand appeal.Mahindra is calling the XEV 9s the ‘first authentic 7-seater electric SUV’. Expected to be built upon the same platform as the BE 6 and XEV 9e, it will be a born electric SUV based on the INGLO platform. With this new entrant, Mahindra is promising Power, Presence and Pure Electric Performance.Seen testing multiple times, the XEV 9s is expected to bear resemblance with the XUV700 with a similar silhouette and a front fascia similar to XEV 9e.Interiors are expected to feature a triple 12.3 inch screen dashboard, which has been spied multiple times in the test mules, along with a new-age steering wheel with illuminated logo and refined interior. You can expect features similar to the BE 6 and XEV 9e in terms of comfort, namely ventilated and heated seats, electronically adjustable seats, leatherette upholstery, heads-up display (HUD), and many more.Digital key, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, dedicated 2nd and 3rd row AC vents, 16-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system are expected as well. The battery packs will likely be carried over from the existing lineup, offering 59 kWh and 79 kWh packs, with a claimed range over 600 km. The XEV 9s is also expected to sport a dual-motor AWD system for more performance and off-road capabilities.Mahindra is expected to price the XEV 7e competitively, with the starting price likely around ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing will make it a strong contender against electric SUVs like the Tata Harrier EV and BYD Atto 3.Further details will be revealed during the ‘Scream Electric’ event on 27th November. Stay tuned for further updates!
