The facility, which powers the brand’s commitment to electric mobility, is responsible for assembling battery packs for the MG Comet and MG Windsor. On average, the shop produces around 140 battery units every day, ensuring a steady supply for the company’s growing EV portfolio.Driving Gender Diversity in ManufacturingThe Halol battery assembly shop is a reflection of JSW MG Motor India’s commitment to inclusivity and equitable workforce participation. Women employees are not only participating but actively taking up traditional manufacturing roles, breaking stereotypes in India’s automotive sector. With over 41% women representation across its overall workforce, the company has positioned itself as a leader in diversity-driven operations. The battery assembly shop runs in three shifts, with women forming 80% of the workforce across all operations. By embracing a structured and technology-driven approach, the facility ensures both efficiency and safety, setting an example for gender equity in advanced manufacturing.A Multi-Stage Precision ProcessBattery assembly at the Halol facility is carefully designed with strict adherence to performance and safety benchmarks. The production line is divided into four major segments — module line, pack line, charging and discharging line, and final assembly line. Each stage ensures consistency, accuracy, and long-term reliability of EV batteries. The process begins with the open circuit voltage test , which validates the electrical integrity of every cell. Cells are then secured using a specialized adhesive in the cell glue process . This is followed by precision welding and module assembly, where spot and laser welding technologies play a critical role in achieving structural accuracy and durability. Each module undergoes scanning and alignment checks , with laser welding serving as a key quality assurance step. In the next phase, electrical testing ensures safety, with insulation resistance checks guaranteeing proper isolation and bus bar fixing providing reliable electrical pathways.Batteries then pass through rigorous charging and discharging tests to validate their performance under real-world conditions. The final assembly stage involves integrating modules into complete packs, which are later installed into MG’s EV models.Leadership PerspectiveCommenting on the achievement, Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director of JSW MG Motor India , highlighted the company’s vision:“At JSW MG Motor India, we truly believe that diversity powers innovation, resulting in a robust growth story. It is remarkable to witness the cohesive efforts of our teams in creating an equitable and progressive manufacturing ecosystem at our Halol facility.
