MG is set to unveil a brand-new electric SUV at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, with a teaser image hinting at a potential UK debut for the IM6, which is considered a high-performance Tesla Model Y rival.The preview posted on MG’s social media channels confirmed that “ all will be revealed ” on July 10th , describing the launch as “ the beginning of our new chapter .” While Mg is yet to name the car, the silhouette closely resembles the IM6 that was recently launched in Australia.Also Read: MG Launches IM5 & IM6 in Australia; Future Launch in India?This suggests MG may launch SAIC’s IM brand in the UK. IM is a joint venture between SAIC, Alibaba and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech and has previously been tipped for a European rollout , and MG’s Marylebone showroom has already hosted the IM L6 saloon in recent months.In China, the IM6 sits at the top end of the EV market, offering up to 767bhp and 0–100 kmph in a claimed 3.5 seconds . It also features 800V electrical architecture , enabling ultra-rapid charging at speeds of up to 396kW which is enough to go from 30 to 80 per cent in just over 15 minutes.We’ll have to wait until FOS kicks off on 10 July to see how accurate that proves to be.
