The central theme of Sankalp 2025 will be the unveiling of Ola Electric’s ‘India Inside’ vision, showcasing its commitment to indigenous EV innovation and manufacturing. The event will be live-streamed on Ola Electric’s official digital platforms, allowing nationwide participation.

With over 4,000 company-owned stores across the country, Ola Electric has built the largest EV retail network in India. Its R&D footprint spans India, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with a strong emphasis on vertical integration — from EV design to battery cell production.

The Krishnagiri Gigafactory, part of the Ola Futurefactory ecosystem, will play a pivotal role in advancing India’s EV self-reliance. Complementing it is the Bengaluru-based Battery Innovation Centre (BIC), focused on next-generation battery technologies.

Ola Electric’s Founder and CMD recently reinforced the company’s mission of self-reliance, stating: “Time to stand on our feet and strengthen ourselves!” Industry watchers expect Sankalp 2025 to set the tone for the next era of EV growth in India.

Recent Ola Concerns

Ola Electric, one of India’s most talked-about EV brands, is once again in the spotlight, with customers reporting the sudden loss of key features such as ECO mode after a recent software update. Many users claim that Ola is now demanding up to ₹10,000 for a MoveOS+ subscription to regain access to these features.

Customers Report ECO Mode and Feature Lockouts

In recent weeks, Ola Electric has rolled out bulk software updates for its Gen-3 scooters and Roadster electric motorcycles. While the update promised new features, it has also led to multiple complaints.

Some riders are experiencing ‘CAN errors’ on their scooter screens, while others have found that ECO mode, ride modes, smart charging, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and voice commands are now locked behind a MoveOS+ paywall.

Many customers say this has come as a shock, as features they previously used freely are now restricted unless they purchase a paid subscription.

How to Fix the CAN Error

Ola Electric has acknowledged that in most cases, the ‘CAN Error’ is related to incomplete software installation. The company suggests:

  • Restarting the scooter to complete the update.
  • If restarting 2–3 times doesn’t help, visiting the nearest Ola service center.
  • For persistent ECO mode lock issues, performing a hard reset by pressing the Reverse and Cruise buttons together.

The MoveOS+ Subscription Cost

Ola Electric now requires the MoveOS+ subscription to unlock advanced features like:

Selectable ride modes (including ECO)

  • TPMS
  • Smart charging
  • Voice commands
  • Custom themes

The subscription costs:

  • ₹5,000 for Ola S1X users (valid for 3 years)
  • ₹10,000 for Ola S1 Pro users (valid for 3 years)

Once the subscription expires, owners must pay again to retain these features.

Growing Customer Frustration

The update has sparked debate online, with many Ola owners accusing the company of locking previously available features behind a paywall. While subscription models are common in the tech industry, this move has left some EV buyers feeling misled, especially when it impacts core riding modes like ECO.

Ola Electric has not yet issued an official press release addressing the backlash, but customers are being advised to contact Ola Customer Care for resolution and subscription details.
