Ola electric scooters Ola Gig and S1 Z are currently the most affordable electric scooters, starting at ₹39,999 and ₹59,999 respectively. In light of increased competition and faced with challenges, Ola Electric is aiming to streamline their operations and improve efficiency while reducing costs. During an investor meeting, Ola Electric Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Bhavish Aggarwal announced that the company will be delaying the S1 Z and Gig/Gig+. The delay will also affect some of the upcoming new models. These will be revealed at a later date when the timing is right in terms of getting the desired response form the customers. Bhavish further stated that Ola’s current focus will be on the Roadster platform that has been used to create Roadster, Roadster Pro, Roadster X, and Roadster X Plus electric motorcycles. Ola’s Arrowhead is also schedules for a launch this year.

Ola first announced the Gig electric scooter in the B2B segment in November 2024. The S1 Z was also announced as an affordable EV for urban travelers. The original plan was to commence deliveries of both the models from April-May 2025, however this has now been delayed. It is unclear when the deliveries of these scooters will start.

Finally, deliveries for the Roadster motorcycle commenced from May 21. Ola Electric is taking major steps to regain momentum in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market. Alongside the launch of new electric scooters and motorcycles, the company is significantly expanding its distribution and service network. With a presence now in over 4,000 stores across India, Ola Electric claims to have reduced its customer service turnaround time to just 1.1 days, aiming for a more seamless ownership experience.

CEO Bhavish Aggarwal highlighted the brand’s strategic shift towards ramping up production, improving sales per outlet, and optimizing customer service to fuel long-term growth. These efforts are expected to intensify over the next few quarters, especially with a strong push for the upcoming Ola Roadster motorcycle.

However, the road ahead isn't without challenges. As of May 2025, Ola Electric has dropped to third place among the best-selling electric scooter brands in India, with its market share plunging from 49.2% in May 2024 to 20%. The current market leaders are TVS Motor with 25%, followed by Bajaj Auto at 22.6%.

With increased competition and shifting consumer preferences, Ola Electric's focus on expanding its EV infrastructure, improving customer satisfaction, and pushing high-volume sales is critical to regaining its leadership in the rapidly evolving electric two-wheeler market in India.
