Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has started using an MG Windsor EV for official travel and has reduced the size of her convoy by around 60 per cent as part of a fuel conservation initiative. The move comes in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to save fuel and promote energy-efficient transportation.
Recent visuals showed the Chief Minister travelling in a white MG Windsor EV, one of India's best-selling electric cars. Interestingly, the vehicle appears to be the standard version equipped with a 38 kWh battery pack, which offers a claimed driving range of 331 km on a single charge.

Alongside switching to an electric vehicle, Gupta has significantly reduced the size of her official convoy. The convoy, which previously consisted of around 10 vehicles, has now been trimmed to four vehicles, including two electric vehicles. The initiative is aimed at reducing fuel consumption.
The move is part of a wider effort by the Delhi government to encourage cleaner transportation options. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has also adopted similar measures, including the use of electric vehicles and public transport for official travel.
Delhi EV Policy 2.0
The Delhi government recently introduced the draft EV Policy 2.0, which aims to boost electric vehicle adoption between 2026 and 2030. The proposed policy includes incentives, tax benefits and a phased transition towards electric mobility.
Among the key proposals are waivers on road tax and registration charges for electric vehicles, incentives linked to scrapping older vehicles and stronger support for electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers and commercial vehicles.
