MG has teased an all-new electric hatchback that is set to make its global debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Positioned in the B-segment, the upcoming EV is expected to rival models such as the Volkswagen ID. Polo, Renault 5 E-Tech and Peugeot E-208 in European markets. While technical specifications remain under wraps, the teaser images offer several clues about the car's design and what buyers can expect.
Modern And Sporty Design
The teaser images reveal a compact hatchback with a clean and futuristic look. Up front, the EV features slim headlamps connected by a black trim piece, along with a closed-off grille that is typical of modern electric vehicles. The front bumper appears sculpted, giving the car a sporty stance.

From the side, the hatchback showcases smooth body panels, pronounced wheel arches and a gently sloping roofline. MG has also integrated the brand logo into the rear pillar, adding a distinctive styling touch. At the back, the car gets a roof-mounted spoiler and stylish LED tail-lamps with pixel-inspired lighting elements, creating a premium and contemporary appearance.
Features Expected
Although MG has not revealed the interior, the new electric hatchback is expected to feature a technology-focused cabin. Buyers can expect a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, connected car technology and wireless smartphone integration.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), over-the-air software updates, multiple drive modes and regenerative braking could also be part of the package, considering the increasing emphasis on technology in modern EVs.
What Else?
MG has confirmed that the hatchback will be positioned in the highly competitive B-segment and is scheduled to reach showrooms in 2027.
The brand is also expected to prioritise driving range and fast-charging capability, two key factors for buyers in the electric hatchback segment. While battery and performance figures are yet to be announced, the vehicle could share technology with other EVs from the wider SAIC Motor group.
In addition to this hatchback, MG will unveil another electric concept at the Goodwood Festival, signalling the brand's plans to further strengthen its global EV portfolio.
More details regarding the interior, battery specifications, performance figures and launch timeline are expected to be revealed closer to the car's official debut on July 9.
