Tata Motors has added another feather to its cap in the EV space. Its long-range Nexon EV, powered by the newer 45 kWh battery, has officially been crash-tested by Bharat NCAP, and the result is exactly what Tata would’ve hoped for. Yup, a full 5-star safety rating.
This means every version of the Nexon EV currently on sale now carries a top-tier crash safety rating, a rare achievement for any electric car sold in India.

What Did the Tests Reveal?
Bharat NCAP tested the Empowered+ LR variant of the Nexon EV with the 45 kWh battery. It came loaded with safety gear like 6 airbags, ESC, ISOFIX mounts, TPMS, and even a 360-degree camera. Here's how it performed:
- Adult protection: 29.86 out of 32
- Child protection: 44.95 out of 49
More specifically:
- Frontal crash: 14.26 / 16
- Side impact: 15.6 / 16
- Child dynamic test: 23.95 / 24
That’s about as reassuring as it gets.

For context, this version comes with the new 45 kWh battery pack, replacing the older 40.5 kWh trims. Tata now offers the Nexon EV in two main variants: 30 kWh (MR) and 45 kWh (LR), both boasting 5-star crash ratings.
With safety-conscious buyers increasingly leaning toward EVs, Tata’s latest result is not just a win on paper, it’s a reassurance for anyone considering the Nexon EV as their next car.
