Tesla Expands India Presence with Major Lease in Gurugram
Global electric vehicle (EV) giant Tesla Motors has leased 33,475 sq ft of commercial space in Orchid Business Park on Sohna Road, Gurugram, marking a significant step in its India expansion strategy. The deal, accessed via documents from real estate analytics firm CRE Matrix, reveals an annual rent of ₹4.82 crore.
The lease agreement, signed on July 28 under Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited, covers the entire ground floor of the building. This facility will serve as a service centre, retail outlet, and delivery centre for Tesla’s electric vehicles in the region.
Lease Details:
- Rent: ₹120 per sq ft per month
- Monthly Rent: ₹40.17 lakh
- Tenure: 9 years
- Lock-in Period: 3 years
- Annual Escalation: 4.75%
- Stamp Duty Paid: ₹20.69 lakh
This move is expected to strengthen Tesla’s operational capabilities as it ramps up its presence in the Indian EV market.
Showroom Expansion in India
Tesla is also gearing up to open its second showroom in India on August 11. The new Tesla Experience Centre will be located in Worldmark 3, Aerocity, New Delhi. This comes shortly after Tesla launched its first Indian showroom on July 15 at Maker Maxity Mall, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai.
Tesla Model Y
After years of anticipation, Tesla has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of its globally successful electric SUV, the Tesla Model Y. Pre-Bookings start at ₹22,220 with ₹3 Lakh due 7 days after booking. The deliveries are expected to start from Q3 2025.
Deliveries will prioritize Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gurugram, while bookings are accepted from all over mainland India.
Tesla Model Y India Variants & Pricing
Tesla has launched two variants of the Model Y in India:
- Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) – ₹59.89 lakh
- Long Range RWD – ₹67.89 lakh
These prices are before taxes and import duties, which means the on-road price could exceed ₹70 lakh depending on the city.

The Tesla Model Y in India comes in Stealth Grey as the standard included color. Buyers opting for other finishes will need to pay extra: ₹95,000 for Pearl White Multi-Coat and Diamond Black, ₹1,25,000 for Glacier Blue, and ₹1,85,000 for Quick Silver and Ultra Red. These pricing options apply to both the RWD and Long Range variants.
The Model Y comes with an All Black interior as standard. Buyers can upgrade to the Black and White interior option for an additional ₹95,000.
