The Ultraviolette X-47 Venom beats the old X-47 Crossover on almost every claimed number: range (343 km vs 323 km), 0 to 100 km/h (5.9 seconds vs 8.1 seconds), top speed (155 km/h vs 145 km/h) and weight (13 to 17 kg lighter like for like). The old bike keeps only one edge on paper, wheel torque (610 Nm vs 550 Nm). Introductory pricing is close, from ₹2.65 lakh to ₹4.12 lakh for the Venom against ₹2.49 lakh to ₹4.59 lakh for the old range. If you can only compare one thing, compare the radar: on the Venom it is limited to the two Recon variants.

Venom vs Crossover at a glance

The Venom is the next version of the X-47 Crossover, launched on 22 October 2026 on Ultraviolette's new VX-100 100V platform. It keeps the same frame, dimensions, brakes and suspension, and changes the battery, motor, controller, charging and feature list.

X-47 Venom variants and prices

The Venom comes in four variants across two battery sizes. Prices below are introductory, ex-showroom Bengaluru, and a range appears because colour affects the price. Ultraviolette says these prices apply to the first 5,000 customers, after which every variant rises by ₹35,000. Bookings are open and deliveries start in November 2026.

Spec comparison: Recon vs Recon

This is the cleanest like-for-like match: the top battery pack on each bike. The old Recon weight is implied from the Venom's reported 13 kg saving.

Spec comparison: entry variants

Here the Venom base (7.5 kWh) meets the old Original (7.1 kWh). Where Ultraviolette has not published a figure for the old bike, the table says so.

The entry-level pairing shows the biggest quirk of the new lineup: the cheapest Venom has less safety tech than the old Original, because radar now starts at the Recon variants.

What changed on the Venom

Weight. The Venom base weighs 180 kg, which is 17 kg below the old 7 kWh bike. The Recon weighs 195 kg, which is 13 kg below the old Recon. Ultraviolette's headline claim is "up to 20 kg lighter", so the like-for-like saving is a little smaller than the marketing line.

Battery and range. The new SRB-11 pack is 11 kWh, and Ultraviolette says it is 25% more energy dense and cools 50% faster. The claimed range rises by 20 km on the Recon and 16 km on the base variant.

Performance. Peak power on the Recon is almost unchanged, and the biggest gain is the 0 to 100 km/h time, down by 2.2 seconds. Top speed rises by 10 km/h. Wheel torque drops from 610 Nm to 550 Nm, which sounds like a downgrade, but Ultraviolette's own acceleration claims are faster, and wheel torque depends on gearing.

Ride mode and regen. The fastest Ballistic mode now stays available until 10% battery, compared with 30% earlier. Regenerative braking now works from 99% charge, compared with 90% before. That helps if you charge to full every night and ride downhill first thing in the morning.

Charging. The Venom adds 12 kW DC fast charging, which Ultraviolette calls a first for an Indian electric two-wheeler. A 20 to 80% top-up on the standard 1.3 kW portable charger takes about 5 hours 30 minutes, slightly longer than the 5 hours on the old bike. Ultraviolette has not published a DC charging time.

Features. Cruise control, camera-based park assist and a larger 7-inch touchscreen are new, and they are limited to the top three Venom variants. The Recon variants add the Hypersense radar, front and rear dashcams and crash protection.

What did not change

The Venom is not a ground-up redesign. The following carry over from the old X-47:

  • Seat height of 820 mm, ground clearance of 200 mm and wheelbase of 1,385 mm
  • Steel trellis frame
  • 41 mm preload-adjustable USD fork and preload-adjustable rear monoshock
  • 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc, with switchable dual-channel ABS
  • 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 rear tyres
  • 77 GHz Hypersense radar with a monitoring distance of about 200 metres

If you rode the old X-47 and liked how it felt, expect the same basic ride, a little lighter.

Variant-by-variant price comparison

These are the closest pairings between the two lineups. Prices are ex-showroom introductory figures, and the old-bike prices are the reported list prices. City and colour can move the numbers slightly, and the differences below are Evfy's own calculation.

Closest pairingOld X-47X-47 VenomVenom difference
Entry (no radar)₹2.49 lakh₹2.65 lakh₹16,000 more
Original+ vs Venom+₹3.09 lakh₹3.15 lakh₹6,000 more

Recon+ vs Venom Recon+₹4.09 lakh₹4.00 lakh₹9,000 less
Desert Wing₹4.59 lakhNo Venom equivalent yetNot applicable

The price story changes once the introductory offer ends. With the ₹35,000 increase, the Venom Recon would cost about ₹4.10 lakh and the Recon+ about ₹4.35 lakh. At those prices the Recon+ would cost roughly ₹26,000 more than the old Recon+ list price.

The cheapest radar-equipped bike in the old range was the Original at ₹2.64 lakh. The cheapest radar-equipped Venom is the Recon at ₹3.75 lakh, which is ₹1.11 lakh more. You do get a bigger battery for that money (11 kWh vs 7.1 kWh).

AvailabilityUnclearVenom deliveries start in November, the old bike may be limited to remaining stock

The Venom wins six of ten rows, the old X-47 wins three and one is unclear. Two of those three old-bike wins are about price and variant structure, not engineering.

Which one should you buy

Choose the Venom Recon if you ride on highways or want the best claimed range. It costs ₹16,000 more than the old Recon at introductory pricing and adds range, speed, cruise control, park assist and DC charging.

Choose the Venom Recon+ if you want an onboard charger as well. At the introductory price it is actually ₹9,000 below the old Recon+, which makes it the strongest value pick while the offer lasts.

Choose the Venom or Venom+ only if radar is not a priority. These variants carry the new platform's range and performance gains at ₹2.65 lakh to ₹3.15 lakh, but they skip the Hypersense radar.

Consider an old X-47 only if a dealer has remaining stock at a clear discount. As a rule of thumb, a saving of ₹50,000 or more against the comparable Venom variant is a fair reason to take the old bike, because you give up the new platform's range, speed and DC charging. This is Evfy's view, not a rule from Ultraviolette.

Wait for the next Venom if you want a Desert Wing style touring edition. Ultraviolette has not announced one.

Evfy's Take

The range gain mostly comes from a bigger battery, not better efficiency. Dividing the claimed range by pack size gives roughly 31.9 Wh per km for the old Recon (10.3 kWh, 323 km) and 32.1 Wh per km for the Venom Recon (11 kWh, 343 km). At the base, it is about 33.6 Wh per km vs 33.0 Wh per km. That is Evfy's own calculation from claimed IDC figures, and it mixes nominal and usable pack capacity, so treat it as a rough check. It suggests the claimed 25% energy density gain is showing up as weight savings and cooling headroom more than as extra kilometres per kWh.

Radar has moved up the ladder. On the old bike, radar was part of the pitch from the Original onwards, and only the ₹2.49 lakh base dropped it. On the Venom, three of four variants below the Recon tier skip it. Ultraviolette still markets the X-47 around radar safety, so buyers who care about it now need to budget for the ₹3.75 lakh Recon.

The introductory price decides the verdict. At today's prices the Venom Recon+ undercuts the old Recon+. Once the ₹35,000 increase kicks in, the picture flips. The first 5,000 buyers get the best version of this comparison.
