Hero VIDA VX2 e-scooter is all set for a launch on July 1st, 2025, now paired with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.

Hero MotoCorp aims to revolutionize the Indian electric two-wheeler market by making e-mobility significantly more affordable, flexible and accessible for the Indian buyers. Expected to start at the price of ₹65,000 (ex-showroom), the VX2 is expected to be India’s more value-driven EV scooter to date.

What is Battery-as-a-Service?

The new VIDA VX2 will be launched with a subscription-based battery model, giving buyers the option of owning the scooter and renting the battery separately. This pay-as-you-go system reduces the upfront purchase cost and lets users subscribe to battery usage based on daily, monthly, or distance-driven plans.

Top benefits of BaaS:

  • Significantly lower entry price since you don’t have to purchase the battery
  • Flexible payment options based on battery usage
  • No hassle of battery maintenance or replacement
  • Users can scale or upgrade hassle-free without long-term commitments

Hero’s BaaS system will cater to budget-conscious urban riders and small delivery fleets, removing one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption in India.

Design, Variants & Features

While the VX2 borrows the DNA of the previously showcased Vida Z, it is purposefully designed to be cost-effective. You can expect variants like Lite, Plus, and Pro, with battery options of 2.2 kWh and 3.9 kWh (removable). The range is expected to be over 100 km. You can expect features like LED projector headlamps, LED sequential turn indicators, 12-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, front drum brake and a physical key slot (instead of smart key).

To keep the VX2 affordable, it will likely forgo premium touches like a touchscreen display and dual seats, offering instead a smaller TFT instrument cluster and single-seat layout.

Targeting Bajaj Chetak & Ather 450S

Hero MotoCorp’s Vida VX2 is expected to enter the competition with electric scooters like the Bajaj Chetak Series and Ather 450S, but with a much lower price tag and a unique BaaS ownership model.
