Mahindra’s Born Electric vehicles are creating waves in India, with 20,000 units sold in just 5 months. Leading this charge is the Mahindra BE6, an electric SUV built on the advanced INGLO platform, blending coupe-inspired styling with futuristic technology. Alongside the XEV 9e, the BE6 marks Mahindra’s bold step into the EV segment.
We recently got behind the wheel of the Mahindra BE6 at the Buddha International Circuit to experience its performance, design, and technology first-hand. Here’s our detailed drive review.

Exterior Design: Futuristic and Bold
The Mahindra BE6 stands out with its radical, concept-inspired design. The SUV features:
- C-shaped LED DRLs and tail-lamps for a futuristic look.
- Twin-ridge spoiler and a raked windscreen for aerodynamic efficiency.
- Gloss black body cladding with flush door handles for a premium finish.
- 19-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels to improve range.
- A functional hood scoop, blending design with aerodynamics.
The BE6’s coupe-inspired roofline and sharp character lines give it a sporty stance, making it one of the most striking EVs on Indian roads.
Interior: Jet Cockpit-Inspired
Inside, the BE6 feels more like a futuristic cockpit than a conventional SUV. The highlights include:
- Dual digital displays (driver’s display + infotainment).
- 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated BE logo.
- Propeller-like gear shifter, adding to the aircraft-inspired design.
- Minimalist, clutter-free dashboard with premium soft-touch materials.
- Straps instead of door handles, emphasizing the performance theme.
- Rear seat comfort with a 2-step reclining backrest, 60:40 folding seats, and adjustable headrests.
- BYOD feature for rear passengers to mount their own devices.
The cabin feels sporty and modern yet practical, with a focus on comfort and technology.

Technology & Features
Mahindra has packed the BE6 with cutting-edge features, including:
- Dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and driver information.
- Qualcomm Snapdragon cockpit computer for powerful performance and OTA updates.
- Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay.
- 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
- Augmented reality head-up display.
- In-car camera for selfies and work calls.
- Wireless charging and push-button start.
- Powered tailgate with gesture control.
- Smart air purifier with PM2.5 sensor.
While the feature list is impressive, we did notice that the screen response was slightly laggy — a point Mahindra should improve.

Safety
Safety is a strong focus for the BE6, offering:
- ADAS Level 2+ with 5 radars and a vision system.
- Features like Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
- Secure360 surveillance system for parked vehicle monitoring.
- Electronic parking brake with auto-hold.
- Multiple airbags, including knee airbags.
Unfortunately, there’s no real way for us to test these claims, especially the airbags.

The BE6 delivers strong performance while keeping efficiency in mind.

Verdict
The Mahindra BE6 impressed us with its futuristic design, premium interior, and smooth driving dynamics. The cabin comfort and sporty appeal make it a great contender in India’s fast-growing EV market.
However, the infotainment lag was a drawback — especially at this price point where competition offers smoother tech integration.
That said, the BE6 remains a solid, future-ready EV, offering excellent range, fast charging, and strong performance at a competitive price.
The Mahindra BE6 is a bold step forward for Indian EVs and a compelling choice for buyers looking for a stylish, feature-rich electric SUV.
