Tata Motors has dropped another teaser of the upcoming Sierra EV, revealing one of its most significant highlights yet. The latest preview confirms that the electric SUV will be offered with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration, making it one of the most capable electric SUVs in the brand's lineup after the Harrier EV.
The Sierra EV is set to make its official debut in India on June 30, 2026, marking the return of the iconic Sierra nameplate in an all-electric avatar. The addition of an AWD system is expected to enhance traction, performance, and off-road capability, putting the SUV in direct competition with premium electric offerings.
QWD Badge Hints At Tata's New AWD Branding
The teaser showcases a 'QWD' badge on the side, indicating Tata Motors' branding for its dual-motor all-wheel-drive technology. Similar to the recently launched Harrier EV, the system is expected to employ a motor on each axle, enabling power delivery to all four wheels when required.
Likely To Share Hardware With Harrier EV
While Tata Motors has not disclosed technical specifications yet, the Sierra EV is expected to be based on the Acti.ev+ architecture. Reports suggest it could share battery pack options with the Harrier EV, including 65 kWh and 75 kWh units. The larger battery pack is likely to be paired with the dual-motor AWD setup.
If Tata carries over the Harrier EV's powertrain configuration, the AWD variant could deliver significantly higher performance than the rear-wheel-drive versions while also offering a driving range of over 500 km on a full charge.
Design
The electric Sierra will retain the boxy silhouette and distinctive styling of its ICE sibling but will feature EV-specific elements such as a closed-off front grille, revised bumper design, and unique detailing. The SUV is also expected to get connected LED lighting elements and aerodynamic alloy wheels.
Features
Inside, the Sierra EV is expected to offer a premium and technology-focused cabin. Features likely to be on offer include multiple digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless smartphone connectivity, a premium sound system, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.
Pricing And Rivals
The Tata Sierra EV is expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will rival electric SUVs such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti e Vitara and the VinFast VF7.
