VinFast VF5 vs Tata Tiago EV: Which One is Better?

VinFast has been considering a new car to launch following the relative success of the VF6 and VF7 in India. Local assembly plants and aggressive pricing has put VinFast on the map, with December 2025 sales putting them firmly at No. 4. The company is planning 3 new launched in 2026, with the other two being Limo Green and VF3.

This new car is expected to be the VinFast VF5, which is slightly smaller than the VF6. Expected to be priced in the sub-15 Lakh segment, it will undercut a lot of competition, especially from Tata and Mahindra. Since it will serve as VinFast’s entry-level EV, let’s see how to compares to Tata’s entry-level electric car, the Tiago EV.

Pricing

VinFast VF5 is expected to be priced around ₹12 Lakh, though it might go even lower if VinFast continues with their strategy of aggressive pricing.

The Tata Tiago EV, on the other hand, is priced between ₹7.99-11.14 Lakh.

Verdict: So clearly, VinFast VF5 is costlier than the Tiago EV, however, VinFast might go as low as 9 Lakh as the introductory price to combat the difference.

Exterior and Design

  • Length: 3,967 mm
  • Width: 1,723 mm
  • Height: 1,579 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,514 mm
  • Ground Clearance: 168 mm

Tata Tiago EV is a classic hatchback with EV specific styling. It features LED headlights, 14-inch alloys, and shark fin antenna.

  • Length: 3,769 mm
  • Width: 1,677 mm
  • Height: 1,536 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,400 mm
  • Ground Clearance: 165 mm

Verdict: Clearly, the VinFast VF5 is slightly more premium and spacious, and it clearly wins with the 17-inch alloys since ground-clearance is an absolute necessity in India. The ground clearance of the VF5 is expected to be increased slightly for India, similar to what VinFast did with the VF6.

Final Verdict

While the VF5 is still not officially confirmed, it is clearly the superior choice between the two. As much as I hate to say it, Tata Tiago EV is more of a fleet car than a personal one. Being an entry-level hatchback, Tiago EV fulfills the needs of the users but that’s it. The VF5, on the other hand, has a very unique design and is bound to turn heads on the road while people wonder “what car is that?” in awe.
