Xiaomi has added another milestone to its growing list of achievements in the electric space. The company's high-performance YU7 GT electric SUV has become the first production vehicle to complete an officially timed autonomous lap of the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit without a driver behind the wheel. The feat highlights a significant advancement of autonomous driving technology and Xiaomi's ambitions in the global electric vehicle market.

The Xiaomi YU7 GT completed the 20.8-km Nurburgring Nordschleife in 10 minutes and 29.483 seconds using an autonomous driving system, setting a benchmark for driverless vehicles at one of the world's most challenging race circuits. The lap was completed without any human intervention, making it the first officially recorded autonomous run at the German track. Meanwhile, during the run, YU7 GT conquered all 73 corners along with its 300 metres of elevation change.

YU7 GT Is Already A Record Holder

The autonomous lap comes shortly after the YU7 GT established itself as the fastest production SUV around the Nurburgring. Equipped with the Track Package, the electric SUV clocked an impressive lap time of 7 minutes 22.755 seconds, surpassing the previous SUV benchmark and showcasing its performance credentials.

Specifications

Powering the Xiaomi YU7 GT is a dual-motor setup that produces an impressive 1,003 hp. This allows the electric SUV to sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 2.92 seconds and achieve a top speed of 300 km/h. On a full charge, it offers a claimed CLTC driving range of up to 705 km.

The YU7 GT also supports ultra-fast charging, with Xiaomi claiming that it can add up to 570 km of range in just 15 minutes. To ensure consistent performance, the battery pack is equipped with an advanced cooling system that helps manage heat during hard acceleration, high-speed driving, and repeated charging sessions.

The Xiaomi YU7 GT is built on an advanced 897V electrical architecture and comes equipped with a large 101.7 kWh battery pack. Power is delivered through Xiaomi's in-house Super Motor V8s EVO system, which has been designed to offer strong performance even under demanding conditions. The battery pack also features an advanced cooling system that helps maintain optimal temperatures during high-speed driving and track use, ensuring consistent performance and efficiency.
