Mahindra's upcoming BE 7 electric SUV has been spied plugged into a public charger in Karnataka, believed to be Bengaluru, giving the clearest look yet at the test mule. The pictures confirm frameless doors, fully motorised pop-out door handles and a charging flap on the rear left quarter panel. Mahindra has not announced a launch date, but a 2027 debut is widely expected.

What The New Spy Shots Show

The prototype wears a White and Violet camouflage pattern. Another BE 7 test mule has been seen in Black and White, so Mahindra is clearly running more than one car. The name BE 7 is also not officially confirmed yet.

Here is what stands out:

  • Charging flap on the rear left quarter panel, in the same area as Mahindra's other Electric Origin SUVs
  • Frameless doors, which would make BE 7 India's first mainstream car with the feature, going by the reports. The windows are expected to drop slightly when a door opens and rise again once it shuts
  • Fully pop-out door handles. Current Mahindra flush handles pop out from one side only, but here the whole handle extends, similar to what we see on Tesla and BYD cars
  • Two cameras in the rear spoiler, which hints at a digital interior rear-view mirror
  • Large C-shaped LED DRLs and tail lamps, clamshell bonnet and tailgate, a sporty spoiler and an upright windscreen

BE 7 also looks clearly bigger than the BE 6 on sale today.

Earlier spy shots confirmed a triple-screen dashboard. The cabin is expected to sit closer to the concept than the BE 6, without the halo loop around the driver. Reported feature expectations include ventilated and powered seats, a 1,400W 16-speaker Harman system, Level-2+ ADAS, ambient lighting and auto parking.

Evfy's Take

Mahindra currently sells two XEV models but only one BE car, so BE 7 fills a visible gap above the BE 6. Our read is that seeing a test mule on a public charger points to real-world charging checks, though Mahindra has said nothing about it.

The bigger question is price. Frameless doors and fully pop-out handles are usually found on much costlier cars. If they reach production unchanged on a mainstream Mahindra, BE 7 will stand out in its segment. If they are trimmed, expect the feature list to shift too.

What We Still Don't Know

  • Official name and launch date
  • Final battery and range figures
  • Pricing and variants
  • Which of the spied features make it to the production car

We will update this post as Mahindra shares more.
