BYD India announced on 2 November 2026 that the Sealion 7 has crossed 5,000 customer deliveries in India since its February 2025 launch. The electric SUV now comes in four versions: Dynamic at ₹41.90 lakh, Premium at ₹49.90 lakh, the limited Premium Festive Edition at ₹50.60 lakh, and Performance at ₹55.90 lakh (all ex-showroom). Claimed NEDC range runs from 520 km to 567 km, and the dual-motor Performance trim makes 390 kW and 690 Nm for a claimed 4.5 second 0 to 100 km/h run. BYD has not shared a year-wise split of the 5,000 units.
What BYD announced
BYD India says the Sealion 7 has been one of its strongest-performing models in the country, with deliveries now past 5,000 units in roughly 20 months. Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India, linked the response to growing interest in electric SUVs that combine performance, technology and premium comfort.
The milestone arrives as BYD keeps widening the model rather than launching a new one. The entry-level Dynamic trim arrived on 20 August 2026, and the Festive Edition followed on 12 October 2026. Some reports also describe the Sealion 7 as BYD's fastest-selling EV in India. BYD's own announcement, as quoted, uses the softer "one of our strongest-performing models" wording, so we treat the superlative as a reported claim.

How the 5,000 figure built up
BYD began delivering the Sealion 7 in early March 2025. Here are the counts BYD and reports have shared along the way.
| Reported date | Count | Wording used |
| December 2025 | Over 2,000 | Units sold |
| January 2026 | Over 2,300 | Units registered or sold |
| March 2026 | Over 2,500 | Units sold |

How it stacks up against rivals
| Model | Approx. ex-showroom price | Note |
| BYD Sealion 7 | ₹41.90 lakh to ₹55.90 lakh | 520 km to 567 km claimed (NEDC) |
| BMW iX1 LWB | About ₹51.40 lakh to ₹52.70 lakh | Single variant |
| Hyundai Ioniq 5 | About ₹55.71 lakh | 84 kWh battery |
| Kia EV6 | About ₹65.98 lakh | Premium positioning |
Prices are as reported at the time of the Dynamic launch and differ across listings. The Dynamic trim is what lets the Sealion 7 undercut the BMW iX1 by roughly ₹10 lakh, while the Premium and Performance trims go up against the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
Which variant suits whom
- You want the lowest entry price: the Dynamic at ₹41.90 lakh gets the same panoramic roof and rotating screen, with a smaller battery and 520 km claimed range.
- You want the most range: Premium (and the Festive Edition) leads at 567 km claimed.
- You want the sportiest drive: Performance adds all-wheel drive and a 4.5 second sprint, at roughly ₹6 lakh over the Premium.
- You want something different in the cabin: the Festive Edition adds a tan-and-black theme for ₹70,000 over the Premium, with no mechanical change.
Before booking, ask the dealer in writing about delivery timelines, charger and warranty benefits, and whether the Dynamic's introductory price is still valid.
Evfy's Take
The sales pace has picked up. BYD crossed about 2,500 units roughly 12.5 months after deliveries began, which is around 200 a month. Getting from 2,500 to 5,000 took about 7.5 months, or roughly 330 a month, about 1.6 times faster (Evfy's own calculation from reported milestones). The Dynamic trim only arrived in August, so it covers a small part of that window, and BYD has not said how much of the jump it drove.
BYD is stretching one model across a ₹14 lakh price band. From ₹41.90 lakh to ₹55.90 lakh (Evfy's own arithmetic), the Sealion 7 now covers buyers who would have shopped three different segments a year ago.
Treat the 5,000 number as a rough marker, not an audited figure. BYD's wording has moved between "sales", "units in operation" and "customer deliveries" through 2026, so comparing one milestone to the next is indicative only.
