The best electric cars to buy this Diwali 2026 are the Tata Tiago EV (from ₹6.99 lakh) and Tata Punch EV (from ₹9.79 lakh) for budgets under ₹13 lakh; the Tata Nexon EV, Kia Syros EV and MG Windsor EV for compact SUVs; the Tata Curvv EV and Tata Sierra EV for long range; the Kia Carens Clavis EV for seven seats; and the Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq and Tata Harrier EV above ₹19 lakh. Dhanteras falls on 6 November and Diwali on 8 November 2026. The largest October offers sit on outgoing Tata stock, up to ₹3.35 lakh on the older Curvv EV.
Diwali 2026 Dates and What They Mean for Delivery
Electric car demand is running at record levels going into the festive window. India registered 35,995 electric cars in September 2026, up 94% from 18,520 a year earlier, so showrooms will be busy.
| Date | Occasion |
| Friday, 6 November 2026 | Dhanteras |
| Saturday, 7 November 2026 | Choti Diwali |
| Sunday, 8 November 2026 | Diwali and Lakshmi Puja |
| Monday, 9 November 2026 | Govardhan Puja |
From today, Dhanteras is 22 days away. Makers publish their offer sheets month by month, usually in the first week, so November's Diwali-week numbers are unlikely to be public before early November. On Dhanteras 2024, reports showed JSW MG Motor delivering more than 100 EVs in a single day in Delhi-NCR, which is a good reason to ask about your delivery slot early.

How We Picked These Ten
We kept to electric cars that are on sale today, priced at or below about ₹30 lakh, with prices, battery sizes and ranges checked against launch announcements and current price lists. Offer figures come from reports of each maker's October 2026 sheets.
The Tata Safari EV is not on the list because it has not launched. Tata has not confirmed a date, and reports range from the festive season to later in the year.

Confirm the exact variant price with the dealer.
The 10 Picks, One by One
1. Tata Tiago EV: Best Entry-Level Electric Car

The facelifted Tiago EV, launched on 28 May 2026, is the cheapest mainstream electric hatchback from a major maker.
Price: ₹6.99 lakh to ₹10.09 lakh. Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) starts at ₹4.69 lakh plus ₹2.60 per km on the base Smart 19 variant only.
Battery and range: 19.2 kWh or 24 kWh, 226 km to 285 km (MIDC).
Diwali angle: The discounts apply to remaining pre-facelift stock: up to ₹1.45 lakh on the 24 kWh LR XT, ₹1.25 lakh on the LR XZ+ and ₹65,000 on 19 kWh variants. The redesigned car is not in Tata's October schedule.
Pick it if: you want a city runabout with a short daily drive and home charging.
Skip it if: you drive intercity often. Also note that Tata's lifetime battery warranty covers the 24 kWh car, not the 19 kWh one.
2. Tata Punch EV: Best Small Electric SUV Under ₹13 Lakh

The Punch EV facelift (February 2026) swapped its old 25 and 35 kWh packs for new 30 and 40 kWh ones.
Price: ₹9.79 lakh to ₹12.99 lakh after Tata's September increase. BaaS starts at ₹6.59 lakh plus ₹2.60 per km.
Battery and range: 30 kWh (365 km ARAI) or 40 kWh (468 km ARAI, about 335 km to 355 km in Tata's real-world C75 cycle).
Charging: 65 kW DC, with Tata claiming 20% to 80% in 26 minutes.
Diwali angle: Up to ₹1.45 lakh on the outgoing Long Range car, ₹1.25 lakh on the Medium Range and ₹95,000 on the base Smart, but only on outgoing 25 and 35 kWh stock. The new 40 kWh car is not in the October schedule.
Pick it if: this is your only car and your budget stops near ₹13 lakh.
Skip it if: you are chasing the discount on old stock and will regret the smaller pack. Compare the on-road quote for the old 35 kWh car (365 km ARAI) against the new 40 kWh car.
3. Tata Nexon EV: Best All-Round Compact SUV

The Nexon EV is the compact SUV most buyers cross-shop first, and its October offer applies to every variant.
Price: ₹12.49 lakh to ₹17.89 lakh (the Dark editions sit at the top). The 45 kWh versions start at ₹14.34 lakh. BaaS starts at ₹8.99 lakh plus ₹4.40 per km (Creative 45).
Battery and range: 30 kWh (275 km MIDC) or 45 kWh (489 km MIDC, about 350 km to 375 km in Tata's C75 cycle).
Diwali angle: Up to ₹45,000, made of a ₹10,000 cash discount and a ₹35,000 scrappage benefit. It is Tata's smallest EV offer this month.
Pick it if: you want a proven, current-generation compact SUV and care more about the car than the discount.
Skip it if: you want the biggest cash saving in the Tata range.
4. Kia Syros EV: Best New-Launch Value

Launched on 23 July 2026, the Syros EV is Kia's most affordable EV in India.
Price: ₹13.49 lakh to ₹19.99 lakh. BaaS starts at ₹7.99 lakh plus ₹3.30 per km on the 42 kWh HTK only.
Battery and range: 42 kWh (443 km ARAI) or 51.4 kWh (526 km ARAI). Kia lists a 171 PS motor and 100 kW DC charging.
Ownership terms: a 15-year, unlimited-km battery warranty, and an assured buyback that Kia says can reach up to 80% of resale value after three years. The buyback is Kia's own claim, so read the terms.
Diwali angle: Only a ₹20,000 scrappage benefit this month.
Pick it if: you want range per rupee and strong ownership protection in a compact body.
Skip it if: your decision rests on a festive discount.

5. MG Windsor EV: Best for Comfort and Proven Demand

MG says the Windsor crossed 75,000 wholesale units in under two years, sold more than 19,000 in the first half of 2026, and has now been chosen by more than 80,000 families (8 October). All three are MG's own figures.
Price: ₹14.70 lakh (Excite) to ₹19.00 lakh (Essence Pro) after MG's July 2026 revision. BaaS starts at ₹9.99 lakh plus ₹3.99 per km on the 38 kWh car. MG's own page shows slightly different figures for a few variants, so confirm at the dealer.
Battery and range: 38 kWh (332 km ARAI) or 52.9 kWh Pro (449 km ARAI).
Diwali angle: We could not verify MG's October 2026 EV offers. Ask the dealer for the sheet in writing.
Pick it if: rear-seat comfort and a flexible BaaS option matter most.
Skip it if: you want fast charging or long highway range from the 38 kWh car.
6. Tata Curvv EV: Best Diwali Deal, If You Buy the Right Version

Tata rejigged the Curvv EV in May 2026. The SeriesX versions use a 55 kWh pack only, and the 45 kWh option was dropped.
Price: ₹17.19 lakh to ₹19.69 lakh for the three current SeriesX variants (Accomplished X, Empowered X and the Empowered X Dark at the top).
Battery and range: 55 kWh, 502 km MIDC, about 400 km in Tata's C75 cycle. Tata lists a 167 hp motor, 70 kW DC charging and a 15-year battery warranty.
Diwali angle: Up to ₹3.35 lakh on variants sold before SeriesX (a ₹3 lakh Green Bonus plus ₹35,000 scrappage), ₹2.85 lakh on the pre-SeriesX Creative, and only ₹65,000 on SeriesX.
Watch for: the older stock can include the 45 kWh car that Tata has since dropped. Check the battery on the exact car you are quoted.
Pick it if: the on-road price of an older 55 kWh car, after the discount, beats the SeriesX quote.
Skip it if: you want the latest variant lineup and the offer drops to ₹65,000 anyway.
7. Kia Carens Clavis EV: Best Seven-Seater Under ₹25 Lakh

The Clavis EV is the most affordable three-row electric car on sale, and it comes only in a seven-seat layout.
Price: ₹18.04 lakh to ₹25.00 lakh. BaaS starts at ₹12.88 lakh plus ₹3.30 per km (HTK+ 42).
Battery and range: 42 kWh (404 km) or 51.4 kWh (490 km). Both support 100 kW DC charging, taking 10% to 80% in about 39 minutes.
Diwali angle: Up to ₹75,000 (₹20,000 each for exchange, loyalty and scrappage, plus up to ₹15,000 corporate). If exchange and scrappage cannot be combined, our reading is that the real maximum is ₹55,000.
Ownership terms: a lifetime battery warranty (15 years, unlimited km) for first private owners of units retailed from 1 August 2026.
Pick it if: you need seven seats without paying XEV 9S money.
Skip it if: you expect a cash discount. The EV has none.

8. Tata Sierra EV: Best Mid-Size Pick for Range

The Sierra EV launched on 30 June 2026 and sits between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV.
Price: ₹18.79 lakh to ₹25.99 lakh, with the Empowered A AWD at the top. BaaS starts at ₹11.99 lakh plus ₹5.50 per km (Pure 63), a figure from our own BaaS guide that Tata's launch coverage does not mention.
Battery and range: 63 kWh (565 km MIDC) or 75 kWh (665 km MIDC RWD, 624 km AWD). Tata claims 120 kW DC charging and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds for the AWD in Boost mode.
Ownership terms: Tata's lifetime battery warranty, which means 15 years from first registration.
Diwali angle: The Sierra EV is not in Tata's October EV offer schedule.
Pick it if: you want range and road presence, and do not need a discount.
Skip it if: the Curvv EV's older-stock deal fits your budget better.
9. Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq: Best for Performance and Tech

Launched on 15 August 2026, the Sporteq replaces the outgoing BE 6 and adds a triple-screen cabin on most trims and a new 70 kWh pack.
Price: ₹19.45 lakh to ₹26.95 lakh. BaaS starts at ₹11.45 lakh plus ₹3.75 per km. It launched on the 59 kWh One and Two only and has since been extended to every variant.
Battery and range: 59 kWh (548 km MIDC), 70 kWh (651 km) or 79 kWh (683 km). DC charging is rated at 140, 160 and 180 kW respectively.
Diwali angle: We could not verify a Sporteq offer. One report of Mahindra's October festive campaign lists only unquantified dealer-level offers on the BE 6 and XEV 9e and does not list the Sporteq or XEV 9S. Ask the dealer in writing.
Pick it if: driving feel, fast charging and cabin tech come first.
Skip it if: you need a rear seat as roomy as the XEV 9S.
10. Tata Harrier EV: Best Flagship, and the Best Offer Above ₹20 Lakh

The Harrier EV is Tata's most premium EV on sale, with an optional dual-motor AWD.
Price: ₹21.79 lakh to ₹29.79 lakh. BaaS starts at ₹14.49 lakh plus ₹5.90 per km (Adventure 65).
Battery and range: 65 kWh (538 km MIDC) or 75 kWh (627 km MIDC RWD, 622 km AWD). Tata's C75 figure for the 75 kWh car is 480 km to 505 km.
Diwali angle: Up to ₹2.75 lakh on Fearless+ and Empowered (₹1 lakh intervention, up to ₹75,000 exchange or scrappage, up to ₹1 lakh loyalty), ₹2.50 lakh on Adventure, and ₹2.25 lakh on the Empowered AWD Stealth.
Pick it if: you want a flagship and you qualify for the loyalty bonus.
Skip it if: you have no Tata history. Your real number is closer to ₹1.75 lakh with scrappage (our arithmetic, below).
Festive Offers Compared: Who Is Really Discounting
Rupee figures hide the real story, so we worked out each October offer as a share of the entry price. This is Evfy's own arithmetic on reported figures, and it only covers cars on current stock.
| Model | October 2026 headline offer | Entry price | Share of entry price | Applies to |
| Tata Curvv EV (pre-SeriesX) | Up to ₹3.35 lakh | Not verified for older stock | n/a | Outgoing stock |
| Tata Tiago EV and Punch EV | Up to ₹1.45 lakh each | n/a | n/a | Outgoing stock |
| Tata Harrier EV | Up to ₹2.75 lakh | ₹21.79 lakh | 12.6% (8.0% with scrappage and no Tata loyalty) | Current stock |
| Kia Carens Clavis EV | Up to ₹75,000 | ₹18.04 lakh | 4.2% (3.0% at ₹55,000) | Current stock |
| Tata Curvv EV SeriesX | Up to ₹65,000 | ₹17.19 lakh | 3.8% | Current stock |
| Hyundai Creta Electric | Up to ₹65,000, limited stock | ₹18.03 lakh | 3.6% | Current stock |
| Tata Nexon EV | Up to ₹45,000 | ₹12.49 lakh | 3.6% | Current stock |
| Maruti e Vitara | Up to ₹30,000 exchange benefit plus free charger and installation (see FAQs) | ₹16.19 lakh | 1.9% | Current stock |
| Kia Syros EV | ₹20,000 scrappage | ₹13.49 lakh | 1.5% | Current stock |
| MG Windsor EV, Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq | No verified October offer | n/a | n/a | Ask the dealer |
Tata splits its benefits into a Green Bonus, an intervention offer, an exchange or scrappage benefit, and a loyalty bonus. Exchange and scrappage are alternatives, so you take one, not both.
Close Calls: Creta Electric, e Vitara and XEV 9S
Three more cars deserve a test drive before you decide.
| Car | Ex-showroom price | Battery and claimed range | October 2026 offer | BaaS entry |
| Hyundai Creta Electric | ₹18.03 lakh to ₹25.07 lakh | 42 or 51.4 kWh, 390 or 473 km (ARAI at launch) | Up to ₹65,000, limited stock | ₹10.99 lakh plus ₹3.90 per km (Executive 42) |
| Maruti e Vitara | ₹16.19 lakh to ₹19.99 lakh after Maruti's August revision | 49 or 61 kWh, 440 or 543 km (claimed) | Up to ₹30,000 exchange benefit plus free charger and installation | ₹10.99 lakh plus ₹3.99 per km (Delta 49) |
| Mahindra XEV 9S (seven-seat) | From about ₹20.65 lakh (listings differ) | Packs from 59 kWh | Not verified | ₹12.65 lakh plus ₹3.75 per km |
The e Vitara carries an 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty, and the Creta Electric got a Lounge Edition range in early September. If you are choosing between the Creta Electric and the e Vitara, ask for on-road quotes in your state, because the entry prices are within about ₹2 lakh of each other.

Your Diwali Buying Checklist
Get the offer sheet in writing. Ask for every component: Green Bonus, intervention offer, exchange or scrappage, loyalty and corporate. Confirm which ones you actually qualify for.
Ask whether the car is outgoing stock. The biggest Tata discounts apply to pre-facelift Tiago and Punch EVs and pre-SeriesX Curvv EVs. Check the battery pack and model year on the exact car.
Compare on-road prices in your state. Road tax decides a lot. Karnataka now charges four-wheelers a tiered 5%, 8% or 10% depending on price, while Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu charge 0%.
Ask for a delivery date. If you want Dhanteras (6 November) delivery, get the allocation date in writing now.
Price BaaS against outright using your own kilometres. BaaS per-km rates are battery loan EMIs, not metered billing.
Check the charger. Ask whether a home charger is included, and read the rules for installing one in a society.
- Read the battery warranty terms. "Lifetime" means different things by maker (see the FAQs).
Evfy's Take
All percentages below are Evfy's own arithmetic on reported offer figures, not numbers stated by any maker.
1. The festive discount is small on most current-stock EVs. Outside the Harrier EV and outgoing Tata stock, the headline saving runs from 1.5% to 4.2% of the entry price. Only two things clear that bar: the Harrier EV at 12.6% (8.0% for a buyer with no Tata loyalty) and old Tata inventory. Where a maker needs to clear stock, the discount is big. Where it does not, you are looking at a few thousand rupees.
2. The ownership route moves your price more than the offer does. Kia's Syros EV offer is worth ₹20,000, while its BaaS route cuts the upfront price by ₹5.50 lakh. In our BaaS guide that works out to a break-even of roughly 167,000 km, which shows BaaS is a financing choice, not a discount. Use the offer sheet to compare cars, and use your own kilometres to compare ownership routes.
3. Tata's ceilings have not moved since July. The top figures on the Curvv EV (₹3.35 lakh) and Harrier EV (₹2.75 lakh) match what was reported for July, August and September, and October is the same. Nothing in Tata's pattern suggests Diwali week will be richer. We could not verify the same for MG or Mahindra, so ask their dealers directly.
4. The Dhanteras date is the real deadline. With 22 days to go, the practical risk is not a missed discount but a missed delivery slot. A booking is only worth the date it lands on.
