River Mobility has crossed 100 showrooms in India after opening 10 new outlets at the same time in Lucknow, Agra, Udaipur, Ajmer, Chennai, Puducherry, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Visakhapatnam and Delhi. The Bengaluru-based electric scooter maker now sells through 65 cities across 12 states, about three years after it began operations. River is targeting 150 stores by the end of 2026 and more than 200 by March 2027, funded by its $120 million Series C round.

What River Mobility Has Confirmed

River's retail milestone comes from the company's own announcement, as carried in industry reports. Here is the full set of figures that has been stated.

River's co-founder and CEO, Aravind Mani, said the expansion has been guided by the customer. According to the company, it has strengthened its ecosystem to grow retail at twice the earlier pace, while holding on to its service and ownership standards.

The 10 New Outlets

The ten openings span North, West and South India. The table below lists the locations named in the announcement.

One detail worth noting: these are 10 new outlets, not 10 new cities. River already had stores in Chennai (its first there opened in August 2024) and in Delhi, where its first North India store opened at Rajouri Garden in October 2025. The new outlets add depth to cities River already serves, alongside fresh entries such as Agra, Ajmer, Udaipur and Puducherry.

The announcement does not give addresses, opening dates or the individual store formats.

How Fast River's Network Has Grown

River has been adding stores steadily, but the pace has picked up sharply this year. Here is how the reported store count has moved.

PeriodReported store countNote
August 2024Not statedRiver opened its first Chennai store and set a target of 100 showrooms by March 2026
Late 202537 to nearly 40Reported around the 20,000-unit production milestone
13 October 2026Over 90Reported when River opened its first international store in Kathmandu, Nepal

Evfy's calculation: going from roughly 37 stores in late 2025 to 100 now means River added about 60+ stores in around 11 months, an average of roughly 6 stores a month. This is our own arithmetic from reported figures, not a company statement.

The River Indie at a Glance

Every one of these stores sells the same product. The River Indie remains River's only own-brand scooter, so the network is being built around a single model.

Claimed range161 km (IDC)
Motor power6.7 kW

On pricing, the Indie launched in its Gen 3 form in October 2025 at about ₹1.46 lakh ex-showroom (Bengaluru), while a more recent October 2026 report cites ₹1.57 lakh ex-showroom (Bengaluru). Check current variant prices on Evfy's River Indie page before you budget.

River also builds the Yamaha EC-06, which is based on the Indie platform. Reports say it is sold through Yamaha's own dealer network, so those sales do not appear to count towards River's store tally.

Where the Money Is Coming From

River announced a $120 million Series C round in August 2026, made up of equity and venture debt and co-led by Elev8 Venture Partners and Claypond Capital. It was reportedly the company's first raise involving Indian institutional investors, with existing backers including Yamaha Motor, Al Futtaim Group and Mitsui & Co. also taking part.

According to reports, the money is meant for more manufacturing capacity, a new plant, new products and retail growth. River has also said it plans a second premium utility scooter by mid-2027.

On the sales side, reports put River's cumulative Indie sales at 27,533 units as of July 2026, and the company says it is now selling about 5,000 units a month. That monthly figure is company-stated, and River has not said whether it refers to wholesale dispatches or retail registrations. Evfy treats it as unverified until Vahan data confirms it.

Evfy's Take

The headline number is 100, but the more interesting number is how quickly River now needs to move.

River's own targets imply a sharp acceleration. Getting from about 100 stores to 150 by 31 December means roughly 50 more stores in about two months, or around 25 a month. Reaching 200+ by March 2027 then needs about another 50 in three months, or around 17 a month. Both rates are well above the roughly 6 a month River averaged over the past year. These are Evfy's own calculations from reported figures.

That makes the 10-store batch look less like a one-off and more like a template. Opening outlets in bunches, rather than one by one, is likely how River plans to hit its numbers.

There is also a product question. River is stretching a network of 100+ stores, and soon 200, across a single scooter. The second model planned for mid-2027 will matter, because more stores selling one product means each outlet's volume depends heavily on the Indie's appeal.

As a rough back-of-envelope check, River's claimed 5,000 monthly sales spread over 100 stores works out to around 50 scooters per store per month. Treat that as a loose guide only: the sales figure is a company claim, and many stores are brand new.
