Greaves Electric Mobility's Ampere has crossed a major milestone by selling over 4 lakh electric scooters in India. The achievement comes at a time when demand for budget-friendly electric two-wheelers continues to grow, with more buyers switching from petrol-powered scooters. The company also reported a strong 51% year-on-year growth in FY26, while increasing its market share from 3.6% in FY25 to 4.4% in FY26.
Affordable Scooters Driving Growth
A key reason behind Ampere's steady growth is its focus on the mass-market electric scooter segment. Most of its products are priced below the Rs 1 lakh mark, making them an attractive option for first-time EV buyers and daily commuters looking to reduce fuel expenses.
Rather than chasing high-performance electric scooters, Ampere has focused on offering practical, easy-to-own products designed for everyday use. This strategy has helped the brand steadily expand its customer base across India.
LFP Batteries Offer Better Peace Of Mind
Another highlight of Ampere's product range is the use of Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) battery technology across its scooters.

LFP batteries are known for better thermal stability, enhanced safety and a longer lifespan compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. According to the company, these battery packs are designed to last for up to 2 lakh kilometres under normal usage.
Since battery safety and replacement costs remain major concerns for EV buyers, the use of LFP battery technology adds another layer of confidence for customers planning long-term ownership.
Competition Is Growing
India's electric scooter market has become increasingly competitive, with established manufacturers, EV startups and new regional brands all competing for a larger share of the market.
Despite the intense competition, Ampere has continued to grow steadily, indicating that there is strong demand for reliable and affordable electric scooters rather than just feature-packed premium models.
Crossing the 4 lakh sales milestone marks an important achievement for Ampere as it strengthens its presence in India's electric two-wheeler market. With affordable pricing, practical products and a focus on battery safety, the brand appears well-positioned to benefit from the country's growing shift towards electric mobility.
