The Denza Z9 GT has been spotted on Indian roads for the first time, just days before BYD's luxury sub-brand makes its India debut on 13 November 2026. The electric shooting brake is expected to arrive as a fully imported car priced at ₹1.2 crore to ₹1.5 crore (ex-showroom), with a claimed 1,156hp, 600 km WLTP range and charging that can add 10 to 97 percent in about nine minutes on a compatible 1,500kW charger. It would be the only shooting brake on sale in India.

What Was Spotted

A Z9 GT has now been photographed on an Indian road in a spy image shared on social media. It is the first time the shooting brake has been seen in the country, and the sighting comes a week before Denza's India debut on Friday, 13 November. The car will mark the entry of BYD's luxury-focused Denza brand into India.

Design And Rear-Wheel Steering

The Z9 GT is a long, low and sleek car. Up front it gets split Matrix LED headlamps with 108 lighting zones, a ridged bonnet and a LiDAR sensor on the leading edge of the roof. The side profile adds 20-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli tyres, flush door handles, a kinked character line and Denza emblems on the D-pillars.

The rear wheels steer by up to 15 degrees. This allows the car to "crab walk" sideways and perform a 360-degree turn on the spot. At the back you get a dual-ridge roof spoiler, slim LED tail-lamps and an "e3" badge that points to the platform underneath.

Interior And Features

The cabin is built around a triple-screen layout: a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, a 13.2-inch passenger screen and a 13.2-inch digital driver's display. Each front door also carries a small screen.

Other features to look forward to:

  • Powered front seats with ventilation, heating and massage

  • Augmented-reality head-up display

  • Dual-pane sunroof and four-zone climate control

  • ADAS suite, auto park assist and a 360-degree camera

  • Nine airbags

  • 20-speaker Devialet sound system

  • Leather upholstery, powered soft-close doors and a powered tailgate

Expected Price And Rival

The Z9 GT is expected to be priced between ₹1.2 crore and ₹1.5 crore (ex-showroom). Reports point to the BMW i5 M60 as the closest rival, although the Z9 GT's shooting brake shape means no car in India currently matches its body style. Official India pricing is expected to be announced by Denza at launch.

Evfy's Take

A car on Indian roads a week before the event is a good sign that the Z9 GT is already in the country for launch preparations. That is Evfy's reading, not something Denza has confirmed. The bigger story is the shape. With no other shooting brake on sale, the Z9 GT does not have to win on price against a like-for-like rival. It only has to convince luxury EV buyers that a long, low estate with 1,156hp is worth a look next to the usual sedans and SUVs. We expect it to be a halo car that shows what Denza can do, rather than a volume seller.
