JSW MG Motor India delivered 50 Hector Tomahawk EVs to customers in Surat on 28 September 2026, just over a month after the electric SUV launched on 26 August. MG called it a milestone. Ex-showroom prices in Surat run from ₹19.50 lakh to ₹23.50 lakh, and the SUV offers a 69.2 kWh battery, 150 kW of power and a claimed 517 km range. MG also sells it under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan starting at ₹13.99 lakh plus ₹4.90 per km of battery rental.
What MG Announced
JSW MG Motor India said it handed over 50 Hector Tomahawk EVs in Surat in a single day, on 28 September 2026. The company linked the response to interest in the recently launched model and to the wider adoption of electric mobility.
The Tomahawk EV was launched on 26 August 2026, and MG had said deliveries would begin in September. This handover is the first delivery milestone the company has publicised for the SUV.
MG also repeated two company claims alongside the announcement: it has sold over 1,50,000 electric vehicles in India since its first EV launch, and the MG Windsor remains the country's top-selling EV. Both figures come from MG, and we have not independently verified them.

Hector Tomahawk EV Prices In Surat
Here is how the Surat ex-showroom prices compare with the introductory prices MG announced at launch.
| Variant | Seats | Launch ex-showroom price | Surat ex-showroom price |
| Excite | 7 | ₹19.49 lakh | ₹19.50 lakh (₹19,49,800) |
| Exclusive | 7 | ₹21.99 lakh | ₹22.00 lakh (₹21,99,800) |
| Essence | 5 | ₹22.99 lakh | ₹23.00 lakh (₹22,99,800) |
| Essence | 7 | ₹23.49 lakh | ₹23.50 lakh (₹23,49,800) |
The gap between the two lists is just ₹800 per variant, so the Surat prices are effectively the launch prices, rounded up in the lakh format. Rushlane reports the exact rupee figures shown in brackets. Launch prices are introductory, as MG announced.
MG also offers the plug-in hybrid version, the Hector Tomahawk PHEV, from ₹25.69 lakh ex-showroom (₹25.70 lakh for the Exclusive 7S and ₹27.80 lakh for the Essence 7S in Surat). This delivery announcement covers the EV only.

How MG's BaaS Pricing Works
Under Battery-as-a-Service, you buy the SUV without the battery and pay a rental for every kilometre you drive.
For the Tomahawk EV, MG's introductory BaaS offer starts at ₹13.99 lakh for the vehicle, plus ₹4.90 per km of battery rental. The offer applies to a limited number of bookings, and MG has not published variant-wise BaaS prices.
The PHEV has a BaaS option too, starting at ₹21.79 lakh plus ₹3.20 per km.
Outright buyers pay from ₹19.49 lakh and own the battery with the car. Whether the BaaS route saves money depends entirely on how far you drive, which we work through in Evfy's Take below.

Tomahawk EV vs Its Three-Row Rivals
The seven-seat Tomahawk EV mainly competes with the Mahindra XEV 9S and the Kia Carens Clavis EV.
| Model | Ex-showroom price range | Battery options | Claimed range (top battery) |
| MG Hector Tomahawk EV (7-seat) | ₹19.49 lakh to ₹23.49 lakh | 69.2 kWh | 517 km |
| Mahindra XEV 9S | ₹19.95 lakh to ₹29.45 lakh | 59, 70 and 79 kWh | Up to 679 km |
| Kia Carens Clavis EV | ₹17.99 lakh to ₹24.49 lakh | 42 and 51.4 kWh | Up to 490 km |
The Tomahawk EV offers a single battery size, while both rivals let you step up or down. Rival prices are the ex-showroom (Delhi) figures listed in earlier comparison coverage, so check current prices with the dealer before you decide.
Should You Book One Now?
The Surat handover tells you the SUV is reaching customers. It does not tell you how quickly your own booking will convert into a delivery, since MG has not shared a waiting period or a city-wise delivery schedule.
Before you book, do three things:
- Get the BaaS terms in writing, including which variants qualify and what happens if the limited-booking window closes.
- Sit in the third row with your family if you are buying the seven-seater.
- Compare the final on-road price rather than the ex-showroom headline.
MG also lists an Assured Buy Back Programme, extended warranty options and prepaid maintenance plans. If resale matters to you, read how used EV values are shaping up first.

Evfy's Take
The Surat prices are not a price hike. At ₹800 above the launch prices, the Surat list is the launch list. Nobody should read a "₹19.50 lakh" figure as MG raising prices.
BaaS only wins for lighter drivers. Take the ₹5.50 lakh gap between the ₹19.49 lakh outright price and the ₹13.99 lakh BaaS entry price, and divide it by ₹4.90 per km. The two routes break even at roughly 1.12 lakh km. At 10,000 km a year that is about 11 years, at 15,000 km about 7.5 years, and at 20,000 km about 5.6 years. This is Evfy's own calculation. It assumes the BaaS entry price maps to the Excite 7S, which MG has not confirmed, and it ignores insurance, registration, financing and resale differences.
Fifty deliveries is a start, not a trend. One city on one day shows that handovers have begun. It says nothing about monthly volumes, and the number to watch is the Tomahawk's Vahan registrations once October data arrives.
