Back in May 2024, Stellantis confirmed the launch of Leapmotor in India and again reaffirmed the plan in a local announcement in April this year. Now, the company has shared some new details about their plans for the Chinese brand for our market.Stellantis is a global giant with an already established presence in India with their Jeep and Citroën brands and currently offer only one electric model under Citroën, the eC3. The entry of Leapmotor will give the brand an edge in the growing EV market in India and will stand to compete with Tata, MG and Mahindra if they can crack the market.During an interaction with ET Auto, Shailesh Hazela, CEO and MD Stellantis (India), said that the company will launch the first Leapmotor model in our market in the next financial year, meaning somewhere between April 2026 and March 2027. He also revealed that the company is considering a B-segment model and an entry C-segment model for its first product.Hazela’s comment on product strategy strongly indicates that the company might be exploring the B10 C-segment SUV for the Indian market. However, considering the significantly higher popularity of the SUV body style in India, especially in pricey segments, along with the poor road conditions, the C10 looks like a better choice.Leapmotor B10 — Compact Crossover SUVThe Leapmotor B10 is a compact crossover SUV with a single-motor rear-wheel drive setup.
