Tata Motors is all set to unveil the much-awaited Sierra EV on June 30, and fresh details about its variant lineup have emerged ahead of the launch. The upcoming electric SUV is expected to be offered with two battery pack options, with the entry-level Pure variant likely featuring a 65 kWh battery pack. The larger 75 kWh unit is expected to power the higher trims, including the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants.

Base Variant Expected With 65 kWh Battery

According to the reports, the Tata Sierra EV's base Pure variant will come equipped with a 65 kWh battery pack. The same battery is already available in the Harrier EV, where it is paired with a rear-wheel-drive electric motor.

In the Harrier EV, this setup produces 238 bhp and 315 Nm of torque while delivering a claimed range of 538 km. Tata Motors is expected to carry over the same powertrain to the Sierra EV.

Since the Sierra EV is likely to be slightly lighter and more compact than the Harrier EV, it could potentially deliver a marginally higher driving range. However, the brand has yet to reveal the official specifications.

Higher Variants May Get 75 kWh Battery And AWD

The top-spec Sierra EV is expected to feature Tata's larger 75 kWh battery pack. This version is likely to be paired with the brand's dual-motor Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) system, which Tata has already confirmed for the SUV.

The dual-motor setup, borrowed from the Harrier EV, develops a combined output of 313 bhp and up to 504 Nm of torque. The front motor generates 155.8 bhp, while the rear motor produces 234.7 bhp. In the Harrier EV, this battery pack offers a claimed range of 622 km, and the Sierra EV could potentially improve upon that figure due to its lower weight.

Tata is also expected to offer both a standard 3.3 kW AC charger and an optional 7.2 kW AC fast charger with the Sierra EV.

Design

Recently released teasers suggest that the Sierra EV will retain the overall design of its ICE counterpart while receiving a few EV-specific styling updates.

At the front, the electric SUV gets a closed-off grille finished in body colour, replacing the conventional grille seen on the ICE model. The LED lighting signature remains unchanged, although the Sierra lettering below the light bar has been omitted. The lower bumper features gloss-black inserts and a faux silver skid plate.

From the side, the SUV continues with its signature silhouette and 19-inch alloy wheels, while Sierra.ev badging on the doors and tailgate distinguishes it from the ICE version. Tata is also expected to introduce exclusive exterior colour options for the EV.

Interiors

Although Tata Motors has not fully revealed the cabin, the Sierra EV is expected to share most of its interior with the recently showcased ICE Sierra.

Higher variants are likely to feature a triple-screen dashboard comprising a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch passenger display.

Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, a premium audio system, a head-up display, multiple drive modes, connected car technology, and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

Pricing And Rivals

The Tata Sierra EV is expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom), with its official pricing set to be announced at launch.

Once launched, it will compete with the Mahindra BE 6, Mahindra XEV 9e, Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti e Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, and Tata's own Curvv EV.
